Possibility of 2 maybe 3 people caught in crossfire while taking out a crazy man >>>>>>>>>>>>>> guaranteed however many dead the crazy man wants to kill.
so one is a possibility and the other is a guarantee eh? ANd that is even assuming that the "good guys" would take down the "bad guy" which in most cases they would not.
I'll give an example. I have a cousin, she and her husband are stupid. She carries a fricking .44 Magnum in her purse "just in case" I'll guarantee you that stupid bitch would kill herself or her children if she ever actually tried to fire that weapon at someone, and that is mostly the type of person who is bitching about wanting to conceal carry. Not all of them of course, but a lot of them.
Even if you have a weapon that is appropriate and if you are trained to shoot, shooting a PERSON is a different matter anyway, even if that person is shooting people. Yes of course there are people who do it, and yes most parents would do what they had to do to protect their families, but there again when you are considering those kinds of people don't usually carry weapons as a matter of due course.
Now, I'm not an advocate of more gun laws. But I AM an advocate of stiffer penalties. AND I am for educating people that the 2nd Amendment was NEVER meant to mean that anything went. At the time the COTUS was being written it was not legal to carry a weapon on your person in Philadelphia, New York, or any of the other major cities.
At the height of the "Wild West" it was actually illegal to carry a gun in most western towns; but the "wild west" wasn't near as wild as history portrays it. You know why? Because people who broke the existing laws were hung and hung fast. You ever hear of a kid shooting up a school in Wyatt Earp's day? No because those kids knew, you do that, your arse is swinging within a month. Now you do it, you might sit on death row for 20 years, or more, or hell you may get some doctor to say you went crazy and only have to stay in a hospital for a few years.
So, harsher penalties = less crime.
