Grand jury announcement played right into protestors hands

And to everyone who said they needed to stop prolonging the announcement and just get it over with, I hope this is what you wanted.
This was the worst possible way to make this announcement. Wait till hundreds of protestors are bussed in from out of town. Wait till they start showing signs of agitation. Wait till a clear night 2 days before a holiday. And boom, here's fresh meat.
I don't think they could've planned it any worse. Why in the hell do you play right into their hands? Why in God's name do you give them what they want, at the precise time that they want it?

1. They're not protestors
2. They don't have jobs so the timing was inconsequential

What in your opinion would have been the optimum way to reveal the decision?

The bad timing has nothing to do with employment.

So they should have announced it earlier so all the people with jobs would be on the road when the riot started?

Reginald Denny says that would be a bad idea.

timing didn't matter they were going to riot.
Government sucked at keeping it in control.

I'm content with the announcement. When exactly was going to be a good time? What happened last night was inevitable. Don't try and make the cops look like the bad guys. What I saw the LEOs doing last night was all legal.
The other guys, not so much.

or at work when the looting was happening...if a store owner was in his shop trying to defend himself and his store, blood would have been shed

That was a great link to post today. Thanks.

I think they were doing exactly as they were instructed to do. Remember, no deaths last night considering all the carnage. Can you imagine the backlash this morning if a cop had shot and killed a bad guy last night. The cops were in a no win situation with their hands tied.
They stepped back in the name of "peace" as directed to them by the media, politicians, community leaders and yes, the president and Holder.
Now we all know that the pipe dream didn't become reality. Some people are just dreamers.

Hmmm. Just heard that out of the 16 arrests last night - guess how many were not residents of Ferguson?

I think that waiting until 8 pm, then starting the press 15 minutes late, then taking 10-15 minutes before announcing the verdict likely let the response percolate.

I'll play. I say 2.
Another misnomer of majority of violence will be by outsiders, at least according to arrest records.

No, later when the out of towners had left, and the media wasn't licking their chops. The fact that they did it right when everyone expected them to was idiotic.

Disagree. Those frickers were going to riot no matter what.
You announce during the day, you get more innocent decent people harmed and in harms way.
You announce at night, the animals and criminal a-hole pieces of shite mostly just hurt each other as the decent people are already off the streets.
The property destruction was coming under cover of darkness whether you announce at 7am or 7pm.

Yes the rioting was going to happen, but the degree of rioting could have been reduced with a more strategically placed announcement.
And in no way, shape, or form am I trying to make the cops out to be the bad guys. Their job could've been made much easier if they weren't idiotic in their announcement.

On the plus side, only one day of school was missed for many schools, no protests broke out while students were being bussed home and Thanksgiving will radically slow the protestors momentum and media coverage.
I'm all in favor. Also my wife doesn't have to sleep at the school with kids who can't get home because of riots. Any questions?
