quote:

Establishment Republicans are skeptical that former judge Roy Moore’s victory in last week’s Alabama GOP primary runoff means that an alliance of insurgent conservative groups, led by former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon, are about to knock off more Republican incumbents.

quote:

Bannon plans to replicate Moore’s success in other Republican Senate primaries with the same coalition of right-wing groups and personalities. In Alabama, Bannon and Breitbart joined forces with the pro-Trump Great America Alliance super PAC as well as Wayne King, House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows’s (R-N.C.) political adviser, to rally grass-roots support for Moore on the ground.

That support included a flurry of rallies over the final days of the campaign that featured appearances by Bannon, as well popular faces on the insurgent right such as 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin and “Brexit” architect Nigel Farage.

quote:

Sens. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) and Dean Heller (R-Nev.) have long been expected to face tough primary challengers backed by insurgents like Bannon. But Bannon’s camp has lately begun boosting the prospect of a primary against Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) by Chris McDaniel, a Tea Party favorite who ran a contentious primary battle in 2014 against the establishment-backed Sen. Thad Cochran.

This goes to show you how out of touch and entitled these worthless fricks are.

I'll grant that there was extenuating circumstances with Strange, but they are BIGLY under estimating how pissed that people are with their do nothing asses.

I hope Bannon, Farage and the gang bleed the Mercers dry trying to unseat these cucks.

While I hope the GOPe gets its arse handed to them, they did successfully crush the tea party.

Is this where we argue for things like "Nationalism," "America First," and "Self-determination" and then advocate for the influence of someone from a different nation altogether?

Roy Moore was a political fixture in Alabama for 20+ years who has a loyal base that would turn out out rain or shine to the voting booth. Moore got the extra benefit of Luther Strange’s supposed deal to save Robert Bentley.

Don’t overthink it. The special election runoff had more to do with the above than Bannon and the GOPe. That dynamic can’t be recreated in every state.

Let's hope they continue to think that.

Bannon and the Republicans still don't get it. The strength of the party is where the establishment and grassroots meet. Otherwise you get the Akins, O'Donnell's and Angles.

Farage is an inspirational speaker, he's not allowed because he's British?

I can guarantee that it can happen in Mississippi. If you think that people aren't fed up with Wicker deep throating the establishment you are crazy. As for Flake....I think he is already gone and the GOPe know it.

Guarantee that what can happen? That a guy who has won multiple statewide elections in the past can win again?

Sure, people are fed up with the establishment but Moore’s victory isn’t the best case study.

I didn't say he's not allowed; I'm saying that you singled him out to help push our American politicians, not just provide a pep talk. That seems fundamentally counter to the principles that I noted.

Is this where we get called out for our ironic hypocrisy of the principles we so proudly and strongly advocated for, and instead of acknowledging this, turn around and lazily try to counter with the opposite hypocrisy?

Or perhaps what happened is that Alabama is beyond saving from its own mental illness and Roy Moore represents a level of insanity which is more closely aligned with the prevailing insanity.

Shipiro had one of his best podcast like 2 or 3 weeks ago on Bannon/Trumpism

I agree with him in a way that trumpism was essentially something long before trump came around. Conservatives were already starting to turn on the establishment in 2010 and it’s been sort of a snowball ever since in regards to gop voters anger of the establishment. Since trump ran and won many of those angry voters had something to latch on to
Bannon is just carrying the message of Trumpism at the end of the day.
I thought it was a great episode. Shapiro clearly doesn’t like Bannon but he’s still cordial and understands Bannon is a savvy guy.

The establishment GOP are still truly retarded and don’t get it. People hated them or started to really hate them before trump came along. People will still hate them once trump is gone. Unless they do something actually conservative and meaningful.

Bannon didn't do shite to influence the Moore vote.

He is delusional if he thinks he influenced more than 100 votes in that election. Moore was going to win regardless. In case people don't know Moore has never lost an election in alabama

Thad crossed the line and allowed Democratic voters to vote for him. There was a challenge to his results that got thrown out on a technicality.

Bannon and his gang are a more evolved and more refined version of the Tea Party. I'd love to go back to the days of the Tea party
