Labor Participation Rate is finally starting to improve a little.

quote:

The labor force participation rate, held down in part by a wave of Baby Boomer retirements, was 62.9 percent in July, slightly better than it has been in recent months, but still close to its 38-year low of 62.4 percent in September 2015. (The record high ws 67.3 percent in 2000.)

quote:

A few hours later, the Labor Department's Bureau of Labor Statistics said the economy added 209,000 jobs in July; the number of employed people jumped by 345,000 to 153,513,000 in July, setting a third straight monthly record; the number of Americans counted as not in the labor force, meaning they don't have a job and are not looking for one, dropped for a third straight month to 94,657,000; and the nation's unemployment rate also dropped a tenth of a point, to 4.3 percent.

I love how Prog Filth will now be concerned about items like this, as well as part time vs FTE, etc.

LOL.

Yup. On cue.

Trump is already on pace to destroy Obama's numbers in six months despite the Republicant's. This has to hurt.

My company is hiring. Just posted 5 job openings on LSU's website.

BTW, if you know anyone looking that is willing to leave Louisiana and is graduating soon in ISDS or with an MBA, please let me know.

We are at 100% utilization and desperately need more people.

Job growth was slightly stronger in 2016 than 2017 so far

Wages have been the biggest issue since employment has improved. I think it was +2.5% year over year in the latest report. It's not a negative, but it's less than the ideal obviously.

.5% in one year is a pretty big deal. It's hard to move the needle on participation rate without some pretty powerful economic growth bubbling to the surface.

Sounds like we may compete against each other.

And with Trump's immigration orders, we are definitely hiring US Citizens.

Yay Murica.

It's actually 0.1% year over year, and it the same as January.

I just don't think we should expect it to reach the peak levels with so many retirees though. So in that case, it's not a negative to be a bit lower.

If illegal immigration stays down a few more years, look for this and wage rates to increase.
