It's looking like the AfD party will gain 13.5% of the seats in the German parliament.

Agreed.

Far right is simply a rhetorical cudgel.

The reemergence of a Conservative party in Germany is healthy, and it's a sign that they're finally getting over the war.

So help my understand why the AfD is a far-right party. The stand for the idea of an independent German nation-state, not being the bail-out fund for the rest of Europe, and the idea of a stricter immigration and border control policy what is so radical about that? The only thing I oppose is there stance on same-sex marriage and only because I don't believe government should be involved in the institution of marriage of any sort.
