I gotta say, I'm enjoying watching these players continuously step in their own shite

Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive lineman Gerald McCoy, speaking on Adam Schefter's Know Them From Adam podcast, said he thinks there might "be an uproar" if NFL players are forced to stand for the national anthem.
"I don't think guys are gonna like it," McCoy said, when asked about the possible reaction from players. "I think it's gonna be an uproar if that is to happen because you're basically taking away a constitutional right to freedom of speech. If guys wanna have a, I guess you would call it a peaceful protest, I don't think it's right to take that away."

They have no 1st amendment protections at work.

I seriously doubt that any of the protesters have actually know a damn thing about the 1st amendment and what it protects and doesn't

I really wish someone would explain to them what the right to free speech really means. Every time someone makes this claim I just check the "Stupid fricker" box and tune them out.

And they simply seem blind to this fact.

So, a league that tells them EXACTLY what clothes to wear at work, suspends it BIGGEST star for 1/4 of the season for 3 psi of air pressure, penalizes and fines players for anti-gay slurs.....somehow MUST let a player kneel if he "chooses"?
silliness.
I don't even give a sick rat's arse if they DO stand, kneel, sit, lie down, etc. I was never impressed by them standing and I'm not chagrined if they don't. BUT, this is their workplace. If they are told exactly what to wear, and what NOT to say out loud...they can be told when and where to STAND by their bosses.
silliness.

These guys that kneel, can be easily replaced.

Obviously they don't.

I don't go THAT far.
But, suspend for a game and give up one game check and the wives will have them standing at attention with the quickness

This is the problem. You have guys with an IQ of about 85 on one side of the argument.

Yep. I remember reading stories in S.I. about the last strike and players having to take loans to pay bills after the first week of no checks.

I'm staying in the locker room. Quit crying.

They absolutely have 1st amendment protections at work. They don't cover employer actions for the speech, but they do protect them from government action against their speech.

Someone throw a dictionary at this idiot.

I don't watch sports talk shows but is anybody correcting these morons on their failed understanding of the First Amendment? It's really not a difficult concept to grasp but the ignorance is epidemic.

They should protest by letting the Cowboys win. That'll show them.
