FYI: The flag/anthem represents an ideal, not the nation as it currently is
Posted by HailHailtoMichigan! on 9/24/17 at 12:53 pm123
Loving your country DOES NOT MEAN you think the country doesn't have problems. On the contrary, many times loving something is a prerequisite to wishing it would be reformed.
Who is more likely to help their child seek treatment for drug addiction?
Somebody who loves their child or somebody who hates/gave up on their child?
So, when you stand and look at that flag and open your ears to those lyrics, you aren't saying "I respect the perfection of this country". You are saying "I respect the ideals of this nation and the people who have sacrificed themselves to make that ideal reality wherever they could"
All of the greatest Americans who made this country better had tremendous love in their hearts for its guiding philosophy.

Part of me feels like the only thing that can remind people of the sanctity of the American ideal is another bloody war. We've become complacent, and Obama, Soros and the like have preyed on that complacency to gin up a bunch of unfounded discontent. We've become the national equivalent of the so-called red-headed step-child.

The worst part is the stupidity of it. It's nothing but attention whoring and a bunch of sheep followers. It can't accomplish anything.
Will it stop the tides from rising? No
Will it stop murders? don't think so
Will it bring rain to drought stricken corners of the earth? Nope
Will it help blacks forgive their oppressors for these many decades they've suffered all the free food, millions of dollars to athletes, advantages in being hired, and so on. Nah
