ok I want your opinion on somethign really quick politards. here is the issue the NAACP is suing lifesitenews.com for trademark infringement for changing their name in an attacking article of the NAACP. Lifesitenews posted an article of a black pro life leader who called the NAACP the national association for the abortion
of colored people. The NAACP calims that they have a right to the name National association for the advancement of colored people and someone doesn't have a right to change one name in the letter of their name and use it to attack them.
so my question for you guys, forgetting all of the abortion and racial targeting of abortion issues, does the NAACP have any legal grounds for their suing of lifesitenews and the pro life leader for using their name that way, or does lifesitenews have the freedom to use their name in this way.
keep in mind abortion and advancement start with the same letter, so the abbreviation doens't change they are both NAACP LINK
I know I'm posting a bias article but I couldn't find anyone else in a short amount of time.
one last thing while I agree with lifesitenews stance on abortion I think what this pro life leader posted on there and that they let it through is horrible and very uncharitable. He kinda reminded me of a pro-life version of consuming fire, lets use ad-homine arguments to prove a point.
note I will not respond to any abortion related arguments, even though this has to do with abortion, my point for posting this thread is free speech and how it relates to trademarks.
I guess one other example I can think of, can pieta use McDonalds logos on their ads without having to get permission from McDonalds who has legal rights to that trade mark before posting them.
