For a decade this has been not only my email destination (has since changed), but I also had used it as a glimpse of current events. While I always accepted the slant, I have noticed more and more huff post and other extremely slanted articles have been the source in the news list.

I had used to go to yahoo for a mix of articles and it is now a blatant huff post site.

This could explain something about the uptick in huffpost posts. LINK

More than anything i need help in how to break a muscle memory of typing yahoo.com so damn often.

Also is there another site that gives a mix of sites headlines?

A little bit late for your "Yahoo.com", but, for your next destination save a few clicks. Any PC (Apple stuff is not under the label "PC") you can leave off .com just yahoo ctrl+enter or even yahoo +enter.

The .com is assumed in the hardware setup. Try it with this site just tigerdroppings and then ctrl+enter.

Sadly there is no one good source for news. They are all crap to varying degrees.

Even Drudge is sorta highly sensationalized and includes a lot of tabloid and click bait junk to go with the politics.

You just posted the Drudge RETORT, which is a parody of the Drudge Report

Drudge has actually been analyzed and it gives a pretty down the center share of links.

Like your Yahoo impulse, my first involuntary impulse everyday before I dive into work is to start typing www.drudge...

I understand not wanting obviously slanted articles but try no to fall into the trap of never listening to a differing opinion.

That's what keeps us thinking and evolving.

I have had a Yahoo account for 20 years since the kick off in 97, I have slowly started changing my address for the same reason, the far left turn they have taken does not suit my taste as I like a bit of strait news and they don't provide any these days, just has turned into a bash Trump site.

Not sure how they expect it to play out when already circling the drain, pissing off a large part of your base is not that smart.

This is my home page - anything that is worth my immediate attention is always on the first page of Political Talk.

When I am done with the topics here, I go to DRUDGE.

This formula has been satisfactory for the past decade or more.

I don't even like Fox News anymore but aside from their conservative prime time shows they are easily the most credible source of unbiased news that I've found. I'm not sure what their online coverage is like but when it comes to just reporting the news they really are the least political. Their reporters are actual reporters for the most part. CNBC is the only other channel that's anywhere close to the middle.

, the far left turn they have taken

I could probably ignore their left turn because of like a decent aggregator even of non political news

But the whole fricking home page is click bait. At best, 10% off the links are worth your time

Their app on my iPhone is pretty weak. Finding straight news of any kind anywhere is a big challenge. Was just thinking that this morning and asking myself if I am really any better off "knowing" what is presented as news by the big news sites and Yahoo!'s of the world? Nope.
Anyway I mostly start my news round up with Drudge, then I might go to Townhall.com. Followed by quick visits to an assortment of conservative sites. But I have no one favored site. Even some of the so-called unbiased news aggregators that you can supposedly customize will start feeding you material from progLeft sites ahead of any more conservative fare.

If I were going to pay for news, I'd probably choose WSJ or The Economist.
