I don't care who runs the train, I would just like more options than getting stuck in traffic on I-10. It took me over 2.5 hours to get from Mid City BR to Mid City NOLA on tuesday.
I don't think that rail should come at the expense of roads. It's not an either, but an and. We need all the infrastructure we can get.

Why hasn't Private done it yet then, IB?

A train is good for everyone in S LA. Br and nola have the potential to be similar to dfw with a successful train.

Because the government granted a monopoly on all passenger rail to one company and regional monopolies for the tracks themselves to a small handful of corrupt entities (most owned by Warren Buffet), AND gave the line owners right of way over the passenger trains.
Basically, the government monopolies give zero incentive for private entities to develop new infrastructure, and regulations likely would make that a non-starter anyways.
