These same stories ran last year. For YEARS, because of PR's terrible economy, millions have left the island. Mostly to florida.

Dems thought they were a new reliable group, but trump did better than people thought with them.

2 things...

1.) With the rust belt under his wing, Trump didnt need to win florida to win the election. He could have lost the state and still had 277 electoral votes ( wow hillary)

2.) Dont label all puerto ricans as liberals yet. Republicans tend to do very well with non-mexican hispanics. Cubans in florida voted for trump overwhelmingly this election which helped him win the state. He might be able to reach out puerto ricans too.

Yah Puerto Rican's are like the Lexus of Hispanics (Cubans the Rolls Royce). Especially if Trump does well in the hurricane relief.

If millions relocate then Trump probably didn't do so well.

Two massive hurricanes wrecking shite in Puerto Rico in the same year wasn't in the equation.

You're going to see the most fiscally conservative republicans in Rand Paul and Justin Amash throw their principles out the window and join the rest of the GOP to give Florida all kinds of free shite they want and everything they need to rebuild the island because they know there's nothing they can do to stop legal american citizens from moving to the mainland and they do not want a permanently democrat florida.

You can be principled but not that principled to the point of electoral suicide.

Elections are all about redundancy and having as much insurance as you possibly can.

You're forgetting that a shite ton of democrats stayed home in the rust belt because they hated Hillary so much and Trump barely won Michigan and Pennsylvania by less than one percent. We might not be that lucky in 2020 depending on who the democrats nominate.

There is no way to know this for sure and it's an insane, foolish and absolutely unnecessary risk.

Trump barely won Florida by less than 113,000 votes against Clinton and that's pretty fricking razor thin. Just 100,000 Puerto Ricans moving to Florida would just crush that and leave absolultey no margin for error. You would have to run a perfect campaign there and hope to god the democrat is just shitty.

The GOP is going to have do everything they can to build Puerto Rico back up to discourage them moving to the mainland.

Puerto Ricans leaving for Florida isn't anything new. There were already estimates that they would outnumber Cubans in the state by 2020 and that was before Maria. They've been in recession for about 12 straight years and the poverty rate is at 40 something percent. There was no grand GOP scheme to curtail Puerto Rican migration to Central Florida before.

Puerto Rico will be rebuilt for humanitarian concerns, not political ones. Even after they rebuild they are still 70B in debt and there's no more IRC Sec 936 to artificially prop up investment into the island. Even after the lights come on many will still seek out better opportunity.

Yep, Sent. I realized a while back that there is NO political leader that is going to stop the runaway train of Government spending to address societal ills. Trump thinks they can bring back a lot of money/industry that was lost to Globalist dynamics of offset that spending...but I just don't know. What I do know is that a loaf of bread will be a lot smaller and more expensive ten years from now; barring revolutionary techno effects.

Hurrican e Marianis unfolding like Hush's abandonment on Kateina. If this is true, the most of those one million will not vote for Trump who is blowing humanitarian relief for American citizens.
