welcome to the realities those of us working in the private sector have always faced.
Maybe I'm misreading something, but how does this not strike you guys as condescending? Someone accused me of building strawmen for suggesting that your comments (and tone) were demeaning.
1. Many, many federal employees have private sector experience. They aren't children attached to momma's tit. They understand how things work.
2. When was it established as gospel that organizations in the private sector were somehow free of dead weight. Because let me tell you, they aren't--even during a recession. There's also nothing, in my experience, to suggest that people in the private sector work harder, work longer, have a better grasp of the economy, or are held to more stringent professional standards than federal civil servants.
In fact, I'd bet that you could count on your two hands the jobs/industries that have higher standards and/or require more and better qualifications than the civil service.
