The release confirms information that Senator Chuck Grassley, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Senator Lindsey Graham, a member of that committee, disclosed in a letter to new FBI Director Christopher Wray in August. The senators wrote that they had learned from interview transcripts released by the Office of the Special Counsel that Comey had drafted the statement in advance. (That office is separate from the efforts of Justice Department special counsel Robert Mueller.) The Senate Judiciary Committee is reviewing Comey's conduct as director and President Donald Trump's firing him in May.

FBI and Justice Department analysts are divided on whether Comey violated rules or broke with tradition by drafting the statement prior to interviewing Clinton and other witnesses. “To me, this is so far out of bounds it’s not even in the stadium,” Chris Swecker, who retired from the FBI in 2006 as assistant director for the criminal investigative division and acting executive assistant director for law enforcement services, previously told Newsweek. “That is just not how things operate.... It’s built in our DNA not to prejudge investigations, particularly from the top.”

Did someone forget to tell Newsweek that Comey is on their side now?

Too bad Honest Bob Muller doesn't use his wide ranging investigation to look into this, naw he wouldn't want to hurt his BFF.

This story doesn't really anger me

Here is an analogy

When you run for president, on election night you have two speeches written. One for a loss one for a win

Comey probably had a statement drafted that called for her indictment as well

Why would he do that when he knew that Hillary Clinton was never ever going to be indicted because Obama and Lynch made sure?

I do believe that Comey flat out lied about this in his testimony to Congress.

No. That's not how Federal Investigations work.

At least, that's now how it is supposed to work.

Being that Comey was told by AG Lynch to call it a matter and not an investigation. As well as, when he went to her face to face about an email saying AG Lynch was going to let HRC skate no matter what; and she gave him a dead cold stared silence. Me thinks he was ordered early-on to let HRC skate.

FBI Director's don't write up two copies of the outcome before an investigation. It's not the Grammy Awards, or an election, it's an investigation, I mean 'matter'.

Oh and Trump completely fricked up letting Comey hang around for a few more months after inauguration day.

Comey should've been fired before Trump left for church on day after the inauguration.
