A single mother dressed up as a man to take her 6-year-old to a much-anticipated father-daughter dance at school, but the principal told the two not to come.

Amy Peterson says her daughter Gracie, 6, had been looking forward to the dance for months, so the single mother decided to take the girl herself.

She filed paperwork a month before the Friday dance, Peterson says, to let the school know she would be the parent attending with her daughter.

The mother and daughter even came up with the idea for Peterson to dress up like a man.

An hour before the dance, Peterson says the school principal called and told the two not to come.

“Why is she being punished because she doesn’t have a dad?” Peterson asked.

In a response, Henry County Schools said they recognized “different dynamics exist across households in our school system” and said there were multiple events throughout the year to allow parents to engage with their children.

What a dumb reason to cause a fuss. Just let them go to the dance? She's 6 for Christ sake.

As a white man, I am outraged by the stereotype personified with that white fedora.

Damn shame . Seems to me the mom was trying to do something genuinely sweet for her daughter ...why mess with that ?

Where is the common sense these days.

Utterly stupid.

Kudos to the mom for trying to be both mom and dad to her daughter.

What is wrong with these administrators?

Amy Peterson, the mom, looks better with the beard!

What an opportunity the mom missed to explain the facts of life to her daughter.
Let's get all SJW libtarded and bemoan the fact that sons and mothers were also excluded!

Ban father-daughter dances. Replace them with family music night! Can't exclude the physically impaired who can't dance!

Now if the principal waited one hour before the dance to nix them. Then shame on her/him. But we are getting the offended party' s version. I suspect the single mom, who is more attractive as a man by the way, was difficult to find or ignored prior do not come messages.

Get rid of the dance then or quit bitching. She is not a father lets not reward the both of them for bad decisions. I can see the daughter getting knocked up later and the father happily splitting.

The mom doesn't have 1 male friend to take her?

Sad.

I have only sons. Buddy of mine and his wife have only daughters. They asked me to escort one of the girls to the recent Father-Daughter dance.

I had only brothers...so never heard of such a thing.

I went....everyone had a great time.

I could go many different directions with this, I think it's best I let it lie.

Okay, seems dumb to not let the charade take place, On other hand, it would be better for some male relative or family friend to escort the girl.

This was an event for fathers and daughters. Moms and sons were excluded.

Stupidity seems to be the only thing most people have in common in this country these days.

Principal was an a-hole. You have a parent that obviously seems to care about her child, let her go to the frickin dance. What could it possibly hurt? And that little girl would have had a wonderful memory of her mom doing something special like that just for her. We need more of that.

You're a frickin idiot. You don't know the circumstances of her being a single mom, divorces happen to good people too (so do deaths for that matter). That little girl having a mom that cares about her enough to do would to me seem to be much less likely to get knocked up. But let's cast those stones, because lord knows you've never made a bad decision.

Dumb decision. However, it looks like the "mom" is clearly a dike. There's probably more to the story than we know. I'd imagine the school is on the right side of of the full story.
