I heard that he's documenting the long term impacts of meth and prescription drug abuse on society.

He ate gulf seafood in Mobile and hung out with shrimpers in Bayou La Batre Sunday, then visited some small town newspapers yesterday.

I can't say I'm a big fan of his, but it wouldn't surprise me at all that he decided he didn't have a fair grasp on what was happening in this country and wants to assess it first hand.

Dude has weird personal goals for himself every year. He learned Chinese, only ate meat he killed/processed, etc. I could see this being related.
