I listen to the Fox spot; and Meghan before.
Emanuel if very intelligent, eloquent and committed in his belief that a Collective Solution is the efficient way to go.
His explanation of "cost sharing" rings true in the private market, and he believes is it moral to expand the 'cost sharing' as the most efficient model to extend care the them who can't pay; instead of the 'emergency room' model jacking up cost in the private industry.
This man is the BRAIN behind the ACA. He's good, and means well, in an Ideological sense.
What he fails to address is the moral dynamic as it relates to individuals who will not only pay
more for their healthcare, but receive a lesser quality than they could otherwise afford if left to their own abilities and extraordinary enterprise.
And these morally responsible and industrious folk will pay more and get less - in many instances - because of IMMORAL and IRRESPONSIBLE individuals who engage in all manner of unhealthy behavior, as well as many who just flat out chose NOT TO WORK...period.
A coerced system which does not address the immorality of this dynamic starts of with the dissolution of the individual/psychological 'implied' Social Contract that is the basis for societal unity. It ends up being herding cats; cats who realize the immorality of what is being forced upon them by the mob-rule majority at the barrel of a gun.
Emanuel is force...but until he addresses the above, he'd best think twice about using the IRS backed up by that 'barrel of a gun' thing to git r done. Won't end well. At least if engineered by the current occupant of the WH by using the Chicago Politics methodology.
