Ultimately a traitor, but it could have gone another direction.
He should have applied for whistleblower protection and then he would have been a hero and the public would have rallied behind him and the political winds would have favored him.
It's hard to get behind a guy that fled to russia with state secrets.

Hero, should be given a medal, a statue, have buildings named after him...

The greatest heroes made a stand at great personal expense. Part of being a hero is sacrificing yourself, your freedom, even your life on the altar of your cause. Snowden is still alive. He's still free, he isn't in jail. He's hiding in Russia, and as someone else has said has likely divulged sensitive information to Putin. He has not faced the full consequences of his actions. That's part of being a hero. I can't call that guy a hero.

I can acknowledge that he did a courageous thing. That doesn't make someone a hero. A hero is defined by how he lives his life, not a single action.

How about Commander Gilmore?
Howard W. Gilmore
Howard Walter Gilmore (September 29, 1902 – February 7, 1943) was a submarine commander in the United States Navy who received the Medal of Honor posthumously for his heroic self-sacrifice during World War II."

Or Snuffy Smith?
Maynard Harrison "Snuffy" Smith (May 19, 1911 - May 11, 1984), US Army Air Forces Staff Sergeant and gunner aboard a B-17 Flying Fortress bomber in World War II, received the Medal of Honor for his conduct during a bombing mission over France on May 1, 1943.[1][2]

Whistleblowers need to take their info to the New York Times or Washington Post and not to an international criminal and accused child molester Julian Assange.

Why don't people get that?
We can't be a democracy if the people are kept in the dark about what the government does.

The Media is a big cog in the machine of keeping the people ignorant.

Piece of shite traitor.
80% of what he gave the Chinese and FSB had NOTHING to do with domestic collection. The damage done to the IC and the military is still being measured years later, that big.

Better grounds exist to pardon Snowden than Manning.
