Drones being used in America

How long will it be for drones to be an every day occurrence to see flying overhead?

Probably seems crazy to think about now, but I could see this being a "normal" thing within 5 years

If just surveillance, I really don't care.

Not So Secret Drone Test

Thanks to the calls of Huston locals and one brave news station, what was supposed to be a secret drone aircraft test, is now not so secret. Though to no surprise, the mainstream media is ignoring the issue. But that doesn't stop youtube or the many tube sites that are continuing to get the word out.

This story recently broke on June 8th, as dozens of dignitaries gathered to watch what was supposed to be a secret launching of a drone that will be used by American police. The only news station that was brave enough to film the whole event, received tons of threats from the police surrounding the secret launch, but the news station was smart enough to check and found themselves within their rights to follow the drone with a chopper for the whole event.

This upset HPD and homeland security to no end, who then had to explain themselves. Though we now know that not only are they intending on using these drones to for covert operations, but they are also considering using the drones to catch speeders, to spy into your home, your cars and anything else. These planes would easily be able to gather probably cause for nearly any reason. As HPD said "we aren't ruling anything out" when it comes to the use of these drone planes.

All of this crap is scary. I have nothing to hide, but I still get so mad when I hear about stuff like this.

I would imagine that routine UAV use won't be terribly cost efficient for most PDs anytime in the near future.

They may use them the same way they use Helos in special circumstances.

To keep this on the rails, barring a breakdown in civil order, the military can't perform ordinary police functions, so they won't be using them domestically.

Gooden's measure would make it illegal for any image which was taken by a drone-based camera from being used in any civil or criminal court proceeding.

There's no difference between drones and helicopters.

These are much more fuel efficient and, therefore, more cost effective.

As far as normal, we are already being surveilled by the government more than you could ever imagined.

Don't see anything indicating that they will be operated by the military for the purposes of policing or intelligence gathering?

Didn't think so. I don't remember saying that other Federal Agencies wouldn't use them.

But 30,000?

lols.

Drones are used regularly in many European countries to spy on criminal organizations.
