When Donald Trump is sworn in on Inauguration Day, he will take the oath using two Bibles: the one that President Abraham Lincoln used at his first inauguration, plus his own.
The president-elect's Bible dates back to childhood, according to the Presidential Inaugural Committee, which announced more details of Friday's swearing-in on Tuesday.
The Bible was given to Trump by his mother when he graduated from Sunday Church Primary School at First Presbyterian Church in the Queens, New York, neighborhood of Jamaica in 1955 — just days before he turned 9 years old.

Lord, the things atheists need to do to fit into this backwards country
Hopefully Donald will change all that

I look at it as a traditional trapping and nothing more.

Fun Fact: Obama used a Jeffersonian Bible which was an interesting choice is you read more if and how and why Thomas Jefferson created it.

I think Obama used the Lincoln bible as well.

President Obama is putting a symbolic twist on a time-honored tradition, taking the oath of office for his second term with his hand placed not on a single Bible, but two -- one owned by Martin Luther King Jr. and one by Abraham Lincoln.

If an atheist doesn't believe in anything why would he care about putting his hand on some book? I wouldn't

I just looked it up and you are right. My bad. I would have bet that I had read that he used a Jeffersonian Bible in one of the swearing ins.

I'm sure he doesn't care
I'd do it too and just laugh to myself at the silliness of it all
Some traditions are meant to die

Obama used the Lincoln bible for his first inauguration, and used both the Lincoln bible and MLK's bible for his second, which is a King James version and was MLK's traveling bible.
Are you referring to the private swearing in that was done later? That was on the bible that has been in the Michelle's family for years.

You think swearing in with a bible should be a tradition that should die? Even if I were an atheist, I wouldn't wish this. It's a timeless and harmless tradition. I think it's awesome. If it were a nonreligious book, would you care?

Because politics and religion should be separate in 2017

I just don't see it as a separation of church and state thing. It's not like they say an our father and genuflect before reciting the oath.

Trump may not be the best Christian, but at least he shows respect towards the culture and tradition of the people who built this nation.

Of course.
Let's use the Quran next time.
My lord I should have been born 50 years from now

Not sure what you mean by this.

I wouldn't either, but those principles are important to some people.
