This isn't really surprising given who occupies the Office of the Vice-President. What is surprising is that some of you still falsely claim DJT is a friend of the gay community when nearly all of his actions say otherwise.

quote:

Washington, D.C. - President Donald Trump, who claimed to be an LGBT ally during the 2016 campaign, has broken from the tradition of issuing an annual LGBT Pride Month proclamation.

On Wednesday, Trump signed proclamations honoring June as Great Outdoors Month, National Homeownership Month, African-American Music Appreciation Month, and National Ocean Month. No such proclamation was released for LGBT Pride Month.

Presidential Pride proclamations were started by President Bill Clinton in 1999. President George W. Bush, an outspoken opponent of same-sex marriage, skipped the tradition. Then from 2009 until 2016, President Barack Obama issued annual proclamations and hosted LGBT festivities in the White House.

In his final proclamation, Obama wrote, "Despite the extraordinary progress of the past few years, LGBT Americans still face discrimination simply for being who they are. ...I urge the Congress to enact legislation that builds upon the progress we have made, because no one should live in fear of losing their job simply because of who they are or who they love."

Zack Ford at Think Progress noted Trump could have become the first Republican president to acknowledge Pride Month with a proclamation.

"...but he didn't - and the silence is deafening," he wrote.

By tradition, you mean "what Obama did."

Why do you need a proclamation? Do you suffer from low self esteem?

Why does the gay community want attention, instead of being treated equally?

Isn't all this pretty much pandering by now. I mean sure Trump could say the sane thing Obama said, but it won't stop people from being assholes.

Oh lawdy! Trump doesn't unnecessarily go out of his way to pat Toddy and Co. on their bums! The horror!

How does it feel to be a permanent victim?

If the gheys want to be treated like regular ole folk, why the hell do they need parades and a month and a proclamation?

What you are witnessing is the difference between acceptance and special treatment.

So let me get this straight. You're getting angry over a president not issuing a proclamation? You do realize that it's not important in the grand scheme of things.

You still have your "pride" month. It's not going away.
