I don't think I would have any problems while carrying, but I can see how some people would be wary.

Where are all the gun nuts at defending this baw? He informed the cop he had a permit and was carrying. He did everything right.

The fact that you used the term "gun nuts" in your OP makes it laughable

I think it should give anyone carrying a gun a lot more to worry about. I'd be extremely careful about putting one in the passenger compartment.

No

There are a lot more factors involved than just having a CCW permit. Your age, your state, your frame of mind, how you interact with the cops, what you are being pulled for, age and condition of your vehicle, what pops up when he runs your tags, etc.

If you are white you have no reason to be uncomfortable.

No,

I inform the officer that I have a CC permit and I do have a loaded weapon in my vehicle and tell him/her exactly where it is. I then let him/her instruct me on what to do next while both hand are on the steering wheel.

bullshite!

It isn't the color of your skin that causes problems. It is the color of your character!
FBI Statistics have continuously show, that IF anything Blacks are under policed.
They also get away with more when being confronted by police than whites do for equal offenses.

sounds like you pull your pants down and bend over.

I don't pay a tax to carry my gun nor do I tell the police I have a gun.

I understand this tactic but I don't necessarily agree with it. The whole point of 2A and concealed carry is to be able to protect yourself. You aren't doing anything illegal by carrying, so you have no reason to pro-actively disclose.

Going out on a limb and saying you don't carry do you tough guy?

The point isn't to get into a confrontation with a police officer. What do you think happens if you are detained for some reason and they find an undisclosed firearm?

In LA it is required and if you don't you would be subject to forfeiture of your license

No.

Why would it?

Sure, I'm down with complying with whatever your state's law is. I'm just saying in the absence of such a legal requirement, I don't agree with the tactic of proactive disclosure.

I've been pulled over before with a gun loaded in the pouch (whatever it's called) behind the passenger seat. Cop didn't ask. I didn't tell. Of course, both windows were rolled down and both hands were on the wheel. If I don't look to be a threat then the cop shouldn't take me as one.

I'm almost certain all CC states have that requirement. It is for both yours and the LEO's safety

^ This.

If people would simply respect that 99.99% of cops are just trying to do their job and get home safe and comply with their requests cop related shootings would decline. Instead people have an immediate defensive response to simple requests from officers. How would that make you feel as a cop trying to do your job?

Yeah like I said almost certain. In LA it's required and like I said earlier it's not a good situation if you are detained and frisked and they find your firearm.

It varies highly and there are some that don't. I should clarify that I was responding more to the wording in this thread around "in the vehicle" - e.g. the gun is in the glovebox or under the seat and not "on my person". I've been to gun defense classes in a non-inform state and they still gave the advice to include your CC permit in the stack of insurance/registration papers that you hand out the window to the officer. I don't agree with that advice.
