My older brother, who is a solid conservative, once said that he was never able to classify me. I've had liberals call me a conservative and vice versa; I've had conservatives ask why I wasn't one and vice versa. I explain to people that my opinions aren't shaped by a single word, and my opinion of other people has little to do with their political allegiance.
I'm not a fan of Trump, but I also disliked Clinton. If Trump does something I think is good, I'm not going to ignore it or play it off or change my opinion on the subject. If he does more things I like than dislike, IMO he will be a success, because honestly that's all I can do. I'm not going to say I'm an X or a Y and then pigeonhole myself into what the popular definition of that group means.
If you feel I'm a "leftist" who is rational towards "rightists", go for it. :)
We built this country on differing ideals and working together to come up with the best solution among a very diverse population. The idea that we are supposed to give up on that ideal because of modern politics is more depressing to me than the Jurassic Bark episode of Futurama.
