Democrats begin to wonder: When do we win?
quote:
As it became clear late Tuesday evening that Jon Ossoff would fall just short of the 50-percent mark in the first round of voting in a suburban Atlanta special election, Democrats back in Washington started leafing through their calendars and asking: When does the winning start?
quote:
Ossoff’s moral victory — capturing 48 percent of the vote in a conservative-oriented district — was welcome, but after two successive close-but-no-cigar finishes in House special elections in Georgia and Kansas, a new worry is beginning to set in.
quote:
But the Democrat will be an underdog in that contest, when there won’t be a crowded field of Republicans to splinter the vote.
quote:
After that, it’ll be another five months before the New Jersey and Virginia elections for governor, leaving some strategists and lawmakers wondering how to keep the furious rank-and-file voters engaged in fueling and funding the party’s comeback — especially given the sky-high expectations that surrounded Ossoff’s ultimately unsuccessful run
quote:
Now, with Ossoff falling short of an outright win despite an unprecedented surge of campaign cash and national attention — in a district which Hillary Clinton lost by just one point in 2016 — comes the potential for another round of finger-pointing within the party.
quote:
With the political map glaringly free of obvious near-term win opportunities,
quote:
But if we define our success as winning in Kansas, Montana, and Georgia, we’re setting ourselves up for potential disappointment.

We aren't tired of winning yet. For us to win someone has to lose.
They will win when we get tired of winning
They will win when we get tired of winning

Ossoff beat the first Republican by more than 25 points.
This is a district that Obama lost by 23 points.
Nobody's giving up.

If the Trump economy continues to heat up, and I believe it will, the road is just going to get tougher and tougher for liberals*
* I look at it as "liberal vs. conservative " because I don't give a flip about either party. Problem is, there aren't any conservatives in the Democrat Party. On the national level, there aren't many moderates, either.

Did Obama win that district in '12?

1st place by more than 20 points isn't a loss in any real sense.

The difference between the two elections is the gerrymandering of the district. It is much more Dem now than when Obama ran. I would be surprised if Handel wins the general.

But don't just take my word for it

Democrats begin to wonder: When do we win?
Meaning they think they lost, amirite?

Democrats back in Washington started leafing through their calendars and asking: When does the winning start?
Yeah, I don't get the feeling, they are feeling very 1st place-ish, right at the moment

Unsuccessful? Losing?

But if we define our success as winning in Georgia, we are in for a lot of dissappointment
Clearly conceding the loss

It is when you add up the 11 republican candidates votes ant it is more than 50%

I'm almost certain that district was re-drawn prior to the '12 elections

And he ended up with the exact same % in Cobb County that Hillary had in '16. And she lost the district by 1%.
