Lots of FBI activity in Tangiaphoa Parish last week.

For the third time in the last seven months, federal agents have come calling, this time armed with subpoenas for many of the town’s elected officials, including the mayor, police chief and most, if not all, of the Amite Town Council members.
Sources told LouisianaVoice the list included Mayor Buddy Bel, Mayor Pro Tem Jonathan Foster, council members Neil Carrier and Rose Sumrall, and Police Chief Jerry Trabona, Independence Town Council member Calvin Baptiste, former Roseland Mayor Louis Ruffino and Amite businessman Tom Ed Brumfield.
Two independent sources told LouisianaVoice the FBI is investigating allegation of vote buying in the 2015 statewide election in which John Bel Edwards was elected governor and his brother, Daniel, was re-elected sheriff.
Unconfirmed reports said a judge and an attorney are also under investigation for their alleged participation in the vote-buying.

One of those served with a subpoena, Baptiste, is an employee of the sheriff’s office and a member of the Independence Town Council. He was earlier embroiled in allegations of VOTE BUYING lodged by local businessman Larry Holland.
It was unclear what role those issued subpoenas might have played or what information they may have that brought them to the attention of investigators but the folks in Amite must feel by now that they’re on a first-name basis with federal agents and are exchanging vacation stories.
Last December, about 100 federal agents simultaneously RAIDED the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Hammond Police Office in a far-reaching U.S. Justice Department investigation of a joint federal drug task force that also included sheriff’s deputies. Computers, cellphones and case files were seized in those raids.
Three months later, they were back, this time to investigate a fraudulent bail-bond SCHEME involving several sheriff’s department employees.
Fraudulent bail-bond operations are certainly not new to Louisiana and federal authorities successfully PROSECUTED one such scam in New Orleans earlier this year.

It isn't Louisiana politics without a politician named Edwards either under indictment or under investigation.

Why buy votes in a parish you would win anyway? Especially the sheriff race, no one has even come close in votes.

Nobody I knows has ever claimed the Edwards were the brightest individuals.
Defense lawyers I know loved it when Daniel was the ADA before he was sheriff. JBE could never really build a practice out side of public defender work and government work.
They are notorious vote haulers. LINK

Is vote buying part of the honor code?
Posted on 7/24/17 at 10:07 am to I B Freeman
Check the Secretary of State records. Nearly every elected official in this parish has paid Louis Ruffino thousands of dollars for vote hauling.

That is true and almost every official is part of the Edwards machine.

While I know Robby is part of the Edwards crew. He didn't pay ruffino during the parish presidents race. Carlos did.

He should make a break from the Edwards clan as fast as he can.
They probably helped him avoid jail after he was caught selling pirated versions of Windows back in the early nineties.

I agree he should.
I actually did a lot of research during that election. Found out he was sued civilly by Microsoft. The case ended up getting thrown out and never even made a settlement with Microsoft.

Louisiana sold their extra voting machines to Iraq last year. Iraq is expecting an election in November. I have a feeling that Edwards will win.

Uhh he agreed to stop doing it in lieu of MSFT pursuing criminal charges through the DOJ. MSFT wasn't interested in his money they wanted him to quit stealing their software.

Can you point to any slander in either thread???
I didn't invent the FBI subpoenas. I didn't invent JBE calling for a higher minimum wage and higher taxes.
If those are things you review as negative then perhaps you should ask the family just why those things keep happening.

To be fair to the OP , I'm not sure Jeff Landry is this informed of things.
Want to see a cluster f*** of an administration elect Jeff Landry.
