I'll give her a chance because I hate to rush to judgment, but most of my gut tells me this will be at best a stagnant move by DJT.

Even if you just want to say "frick you education department," there's nothing I've seen from this woman who even proves she's capable of even destroying the department, certainly not helping it.

Strange move to nominate her IMO

Everyone should be excited about federal block grants to states.

The contentious issue will be vouchers from the feds with reduced overall dollars to the states, but the money follows the child.

It needs to happen but it will be a tough overhaul. There is common ground though.

Nobody likes her. The only reason she got 50 votes is because half the chamber owes her about $200mil of payback.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but I thought she came across like a moron in her confirmation hearings. It reminds me of when Dubya tried to put Harriet Miers on the Supreme Court.

You will never know whether she did great or horrible. That's how shitty and worthless the DeptEd is.

Well lets see she can and will push funding to charter schools and away from failing public schools and that will automatically make education better. However, even if she does fail bigly; it is not like she can make the education department any worse than it already is.

I'm hoping Devos comes from the Ron Swanson school of government work.

But Ron was somehow competent in his intentional incompetence. And he was a sweet jazz musician; I doubt Devos has anything on Duke Silver.

When parents are given the option of school choice it's going to be EXTREMELY difficult for the teachers union to put that toothpaste back into the bottle.

Devos represents school choice. That's why the teachers union hates her.

Yeah because teachers get paid SO well.

You realize union wouldn't exist if people weren't taken advantage of and treated like crap.

Isnt it kind of a self fulfilling prophecy to complain about government inefficiency but also support the administration that is appointing incompetent people to run the government?

That's the problem with the dems whining, bitching and protesting about everything Trump has done. No one listens the one time they are right.
