PALMDALE, Calif. – In what officials called an "extremely unfortunate incident," California sheriff's deputies shot and killed a teenage boy while trying to stop a charging dog.

Deputies initially responded to a noise complaint around 3:45 a.m., according to sheriff's Capt. Christopher Bergner. Authorities had been to the location, in a single-story apartment complex, four times in the past two months in reference to loud music or gang-related calls, he said...

The shooting prompted the animal to retreat, and deputies regrouped as they tried to formulate a plan to capture the dog, so that no one else would be victimized by the animal, the captain said.

As they did so, the deputies came across the juvenile, who was down with a gunshot wound to the upper torso.

Officers feared for their well-being. Kid may have been in a gang. Good shoot.

Note to Errewhere: this kid isn't black. At some point you'll have to deal with my arguments and not your bias.

According to the article, he was trying to save a friends dog and was hit by a "skip" round. The deputy that was bitten by the dog was also struck the same way.

I was stationed there back in the mid-90s and this is the most openly racist place I've been west of the MS river and it ain't close.

Serious question.

Do they teach cops to shoot in the academy anymore? As in hone their skills to a professional level? Or do they just make sure you can load and clean it?

You would be sickened to see how little shooting the average Deputy Dog does over the course of a year.

As for this case. OP no doubt believes LEOs should have let the dog bite them.

As for reality, this death is on the owner of that dog, who obviously has allowed it attack LEOs. I hope they get charged with murder two, depraved indifference.

Is this under the "blacks can't be racist" line of thinking?

No. I just expect them to not kill people who shouldn't be killed.

^ Ladies and gentleman the average American idiot, who is too stupid to understand that if the owner hadn't allowed his dog to attack police, police wouldn't have shot at it , which would have meant no accidental death of this child.

But I wouldn't be surprised to see how few push-ups they do.

I bet if that dog was a Izzo's Burrito it wouldn't have got shot!!!!
