David Brock is creating a "Breitbart of the left"

Clinton ally and liberal Super PAC operator David Brock told reporters Tuesday that he plans to create a new outlet designed to serve as a counterpoint to alt-right website Breitbart.

Brock purchased liberal website BlueNationReview in 2015, rebranding it in 2016 as “ShareBlue.” ShareBlue, he said Tuesday, would be the “Breitbart of the left…” so long as the financial contributions kept pouring.

Brock also confirmed earlier reports that he plan to shift the focus of Media Matters for America away from Fox News and more towards attacking the alt-right and fake news. “A lot of garbage came spewing out of Facebook, and these companies need to adopt new standards and clean their own house,” he told reporters. “We’ll be involved in a campaign to push them to do that.”

Other Brock properties expected to drastically shift their focus after Trump’s inauguration includes American Bridge– now a “war room” dedicated to digging into Trump’s past– and Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW)– now reenvisioned as a liberal counterpart to Judicial Watch.
