Some things are just common sense... Come on.

A downtown Dallas business owner says city officials are threatening to issue summonses over an 8-foot-tall fence on her property that features a mural honoring five police officers killed in an ambush last year. The large mural pays tribute to the officers who were killed during an attack on law enforcement at a Black Lives Matter rally in Dallas on July 7, 2016. Flowers, notes and other tokens have been left at the mural regularly since its unveiling four days ago.

Dallas county is a liberal shite hole. Don't get it confused with Tarrant / Collin / Denton counties.

Says it violates some city code. Maybe the height of it?

Hard to argue with that. Just make it fit the code and then paint whatever you want on it.

Article is lacking info. It apparently violates code. I'd like to see what code it violates.

If that's true I have no problem with it. Rules can't be ignored just because it's sentimental.

From the Fox News article that the Gateway Pundit shockingly cherry picked:

quote:

City officials insist the mural is not the problem and that they are wrongly being portrayed as insensitive. They say the fence was constructed in violation of city codes.

“We did not ask that any mural be taken down, this has nothing to do with any mural,” said Richard Hill, the public information officer for Dallas City Hall. “It has to do with the fact that a fence was built without a permit.”

“The building inspector went out and looked at it, and gave them a notice,” Hill said. “They went back and the owners still didn’t have a permit, so they gave them a warning. The city did its job.”

Paz was issued a violation notice May 25 saying that she failed to obtain a permit to use metal siding in the construction and that the fence blocks visibility at a nearby four-way stop.

Agreed.

And the best way to get back at the city is to find a loophole. Anti-graffiti law? Build a shrine.
Too high? Make it shorter and keep the painting on it.

ETA: Oh snap. Just get the dang permit.

I think where it is located causes a blind spot at an intersection so that would likely violate code.

Simply move the mural to a public area, problem solved.

This alone is reason enough to have it taken down completely - or at least modified so visibility is not impaired.

Yep - people who look for things to get 'outraged' about disgust me, regardless of ideology.

Exactly has nothing to do with the mural the city is just trying to get the fence up to code. For you dumbasses the mural will stay if the fence is up to code.

Yeah, where I live in Denton County, a fence at an intersection like that can't be more than 4' high off the ground for 100' in any direction.

But please not that several other conservatives called them out for it.
