CBS show ‘Madam Secretary’ Finds Way to Tie ISIS and "Christian Militia"

Hollywood's anti-Christian bigotry rears its ugly head.

In CBS’s Madam Secretary episode on Sunday titled “The Detour,” Elizabeth McCord's (Tea Leoni) husband, Henry (Tim Daly), is brought into an FBI investigation of a Christian doomsday cult called the Covenant of John. Raided by authorities in their operation in Bolivia while he was there, Henry has knowledge of the militia group and sets out to determine if Rex Mayfield (James McCaffery), a cult member now living in eastern Virginia, is the bomb-maker responsible for selling a bomb used on an Illinois coffee shop attack on orders from ISIS leader al-Mutaya.
Christians working with ISIS? Far-fetched indeed. The raid on Mayfield’s property in Virginia proves he has made an even bigger bomb and the FBI must find it before it goes off. Under questioning, Mayfield is painted as an ignorant rube when he states the plan is to bring about an apocalypse – a battle between the Crusaders and the Faithful on “the plains of Dubuque.”

You actually believe that Chuck Norris rescued POWs/MIAs in Vietnam.

1. I don't watch network tv.
2. Sounds like they are really working to piss off a large segment of the US population, the Christians.
3. Hopefully their viewership will fail and sponsors bail.
4. F them

24 had a white, female villain one time.
Just another example of Hollywood's anti-female stance that I cherry picked to make a point.

I've got no problem with "Christian terrorists" being put on display in these fictitious TV shows. The problem I have is the cavalier attitude Hollywood has with portraying Christians in a negative light while walking a fine line with Muslims, not wanting to offend them.

Wait a year. The ISIS part will be completely removed and the antagonist will be a group of religious white guys who rape and torture-murder Muslim immigrants on orders of the Republican Presidential candidate/unspecified NY Real estate mogul.

Some people did, and they were probably similar to what Norris portrayed (race/religion/nationality)
Or were veitnam POW camps a lie and Special Forces never attempted unofficial extractions?

They are both actors playing roles. The question is the point of each implied plot.
Norris had the role (I presume..i don't know what role you may be referring to) of portraying American courage and perseverance to a noble end.
The Christian/Terrorist Butchers implication is meant to show a connection to what, exactly?

Link me to a tie between ISIS and the Christian militia. CBS fabricated this one out of whole cloth because there's no way they're going to attack ISIS without also attacking some right wing whipping boy. It's SOP.

I never watch this show because of this. The last thriller movie, WH down or something was because of far right Christian loons. Never a real raghead terrorist just Pepe and the so called alt right...

I just think it's really silly to get offended over a fictional show.

The entire show was to condition the US towards seeing a woman successfully run the country. Why do you think the series "Mars" is airing currently? Think Elon Musk had absolutely nothing to do with it?
Not saying a woman couldn't by any means, just saying television has been used to shape the public mindset towards political agendas. Not all shows, but there are ones funded for that purpose. It's always been that way, always will be.

Im fine with network TV shows. Some of them I used to watch fairly regularly. I woudnt ever even give a show like Madam Secretary a shot based on the title alone. Sounds like a lame show

I'm pretty sure female presidents have been on tv for like 50 years.
