Yes, and no. Bias always exists.
But in the past there was bias both ways. There used to be a strong influence of conservative ownership that no longer exists today. Today... With only few exceptions bias in the media.... is liberal from the backshop, to the assignment desk, to the writers, to the on-air talent, to the producers, to the editors, to the ownership. Heck the janitors probably have a litmus test these days.
Its been a steady progression of liberalism and erosion of professionalism. When I worked in news, the writers were liberal as hell, but the old school editors did heir jobs and trimmed a lot of it out. Ownership (which in those days was pretty conservative) insisted on professional standards.
Now... With all the consolidation there are a lot fewer owners. And the conglomerate owners don't really care about professionalism. And now those hyper liberal writers are the editors with an ownership that either doesn't care or agrees with the agenda. You can see the result.
