Cassidy's message was clear and simple..and it won him the election

ML voted with Obama 97 percent of the time. He pounded it and pounded it into the spotlight. It was the message that ML could not hide from and caused her to play defense immediately into the race. The radio and television ads rammed it down the voters face. Did some voters get tired of it...maybe so. But this is a message that he had to overplay. The spelling bee message was clever and ruthless...but needed to be replayed over and over. Voters are forgetful and sometimes easily naïve. Obama winning a second term is an example of this. How could anyone vote for Obama once and then again is beyond me. In the end, ML had no answers and could not get her head up above water. The 97 percent ads was the message....and Cassidy made sure that people would not forget that.

This comment is right on target. Cassidy stayed on message and there was nothing that Landrieu could do about it. Obama is extremely unpopular in this state and it was not difficult to connect Landrieu to Obama--she left plenty of ammunition for that in various comments that she has made since Obama became president. The "97% voting with Obama" theme is very easy to understand, and Louisiana voters took that information and used it appropriately
I do wonder whether she could have made up any ground by giving a sincere-sounding apology for supporting the ACA and saying that she learned from her major mistake. I don't think so, but it might have given her a small boost.

Only had to tie that large heavy stone named Obama around her neck and down she went.
Obama's own are turning on him.
Obama's own are turning on him.

Obama does not care if these democratic candidates are going down like the titanic. He will push his agenda down out throats until his last day in office. Such a ego maniac.

This. Because Reid only allowed votes on bills obama wanted to sign he doomed many dems to an obama tied voting record.

Mary said she ALWAYS supported what Louisiana voters wanted. This was a lie and a HUGE mistake for her.
Louisiana didn't want ACA/Obamacare and she went against the voters. I guess she thought we would forget. Oops...she thought wrong!
Bye Mary. You have nobody to blame but yourself.

The party of "NO" led by Harry Reid.

Harry Reid has done as much or more damage to the Democrats than Obama. It amazes me that they will continue to keep this corrupt old man in a leadership position. Maybe in 2016, they lose 6 more seats and the GOP gets the Super Majority.

Mary's message was clear too. And, it was only sent out to the black community ... If Cassidy gets elected he's going to take away all the free sh!t I've been getting you all these years!

I'm not sure what Landrieu was thinking?
I mean, this is how representative government is supposed to work.
I wouldn't expect to stay in office if I ran for the House in Pelosi's district with my views. Hell, I wouldn't even be angry that I lost if I ran in that district.
Mary literally took a total disregard for the actual views of people in Louisiana and thought that she could get around that by bringing in a bunch of $$$. And, admittedly, that worked for a bit. But, it seemed to embolden her to the the point that she drifted FARTHER AND FARTHER from what voters actually think.
Finally, her rhetoric could only continually keep her in office as long as Dems controlled the Senate. The moment that changed, she literally became someone who was TOTALLY different in views from her constituency AND, lame duck in the area of bringing home bacon

So how is Cassidy going to vote when Obama leaves office?

I suspect he's going to be a relatively conservative voter but less libertarian leaning than many such as myself would prefer. He'll probably cater more to the religious right than I would prefer also.
Alas, he's a Senator from Louisiana and, that puts him a lot closer to the views of the Louisiana voters than ML was. He aint what I'd want if I could wave a wand, but, he's less far from it than ML is.

I think another problem Mary had was failing to recognize that there's a state of Louisiana outside of her home town of New Orleans. The thoughts and attitudes prevalent in NO are hardly representative of those of the rest of the state. She might've realized that had she spent a little more time here.
Statewide candidates can no longer expect to carry Orleans Parish and walk off with an election, as Mary discovered (much to her dismay ). Times and demographics have changed.

Mary tried to run two campaigns.
One in the black community where she was Obama's b!tch and was the only thing standing between him and impeachment..
The other in the white community where she didn't even know who that mutherf*cker Obama was and did all these great things for Louisiana by fighting Obama every inch of the way.

Honestly, I don't think that's it. No one gets to her level in office not understanding their electorate's views.
That's why her rhetoric ALWAYS revolved around what she could bring home to Louisiana. Basically, she was trying to be that bitch you hate but has money and likes to give it to you. You keep her around cause it's financially beneficial to you even though you can't stand her.
She knew exactly what she was doing and frankly, if Dems don't lose the Senate, I wouldn't have been stunned had she pulled it out against Cassidy. But, once the people with a financial dog in the hunt saw her as worthless, she was fried.

She lost the election the day she whored herself out for Obamacare.

Agree--she always had Orleans and the delta in the bag. She was trying to get votes in Acadiana and blue-collar votes in the River Parishes.

I dunno. During the campaign he supported medical marijuana and OTC contraception. Religious right voters don't like those positions and some probably stayed home as a result. It would have been more beneficial politically to just keep his mouth shut.
