Cassidy has got to go.

I was already aggravated with Cassidy over health care, now he favors keeping the large number of H2B Visas. He needs to lose to his primary opponent next time around.

A letter to homeland security was signed by thirty one senators that undermines everything Donald Trump is trying to accomplish when it comes to bringing jobs back to American citizens. The kicker? Twenty of those senators are REPUBLICAN! From Top Secret Leaks: Thirty-one Senators signed a letter asking Homeland Security to maximize the number of blue collar outsourcing visas that allow U.S. based corporations to import low-skilled workers instead of hiring Americans to do the work.

The number of H-2B visas issued had long been held to 66,000 visas but was wildly expanded by Obama in the last year of his presidency, to 264,000. Now, almost 40% of the Republican caucus wants to keep it at that level.

I voted against Mary, not for Cassidy. I have never been impressed with him so he can either ship up or gtfo

Cassidy is a classic compassionate conservative: liberal on spending on healthcare and entitlements while being pro guns, pro life, and pro war on drugs; i.e. the worst of both worlds. He's also a very nice person and a complete political amateur with no charisma.
However, he's got 4 years before he's up for re-election. SFP, will you be ready by then?

Wtf is wrong with being pro gun?
Posted on 7/14/17 at 3:29 pm to gthog61
Nothing. Being pro gun and pro life are his only really good stances.
As for Maness, I voted for him too, but he was definitely a plant. He had no serious policy initiatives and all he did was throw bombs at Cassidy, barely even touched Landreiu. His job was to split the GOP vote and force a runoff which Mary believed she had the money and charisma advantage to win. He took the splitter role again last year to ensure Fleming wouldn't make the runoff, allowing yet another old school dixiecrat turncoat to get elected in Kennedy.

I can't remember who I voted for in the primary, but it wasn't him. Obviously I voted for him over Mary though.

The only principle that mattered was holding Mary Landreiu accountable for her vote on ObamaCare and showing that there are consequences when you vote in a manner that your constituents oppose.
2014 was a punishment election with a message of don't frick with the wallets of your constituents and that's all it really was.

I voted Maness over Kennedy last time. I don't think Kennedy is as bad as Cassidy though.

You would be wrong. Cassidy may have a bleading heart and no charisma, but he is an intelligent, kind, and honest man. Kennedy is a lying snake in the grass who routinely makes a fool out of himself.

Well, that's misleading as hell. Here's what it said:
quote:
Senators Thom Tillis (R-NC), Mark Warner (D-VA) and a bipartisan group of 29 other senators sent a letter to Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly, outlining concerns that the H-2B visa statutory cap will be reached soon. The Senators requested the Department of Homeland Security to conduct an audit to determine the number of unused visas during the first half of the fiscal year, and also requested that any unused visas be provided to eligible businesses that have been unable to secure an adequate number of workers due to the cap.
A comment from a Boston Globe article:
quote:
The uncertainty is exacerbated by changes to the program last year. Following criticism from union leaders and immigration foes that the program was simply a way for employers to import low-wage workers — rather than hiring Americans at a living wage — the Department of Labor implemented changes. Before employers can hire H-2B visa workers, they must now demonstrate that they aggressively recruited US workers first and are paying seasonal foreign workers the prevailing wage in the region for that job.
Boston Globe
Don't throw away those Bill Cassidy buttons just yet.

He was O.K., for the times, when he was in The Partridge Family, but that role stereotyped him badly.

The State Repub rhinos ran this guy and we had "no" choice in the end to vote for him. He is what a democrat was 10 yrs. ago. JAPR - "just another phony republican".

Democrats have left very few options. John Breaux couldn't get elected dog catcher to today's democrat party.

Yeah he's definitely devoid of charisma.. def not your classic Louisiana politician

Oh and I'll just say that it was beyond pathetic when those same voters suddenly forgot this lesson a year later when they voted in that fraudulent tax and spend liberal in JBE as their Governor.
Two steps forward, one step backwards.
