Capitalism is the Exploitation of Man by Man.

Anyone disagree with this?

If so, why?

Completely disagree.

Capitalism is the exploitation of capital by man.

I provide a good or service you want, you provide a good or service in return. We both get what we want.

Who gets exploited?

Read Adam Smith and you will learn why it is not exploitation. There is one of the first lessons on capitlism with workers being hired to do a chore throughout the day, and then being paid at the end of the day that I would suggest looking up for elementary school folk.ETA It is in one of the Gospels.

Capitalism enables you to own your own business and make your own wealth via your own hard work, but if you're too lazy or disinterested, then it isn't Capitalism's fault, but your own.

Men exploit men. And it does not matter what political or economic system is in place.

I do.

Swap capitalism for "the Free Market", and I agree.

Exploitation is not a negative thing, btw.

It's just free trade. You allow people to trade their effort for money. Which can then be traded to someone else for goods or service. Otherwise you think we should all be slaves or not participate in a society.

Explain.

If someone is exploited in a free market system, it is because they allow it. When government interferes with regulation and reduces or eliminates competition, then so does the people's ability to choose and thus they are more apt to be exploited.

It doesn't seem the attack on capitalism, is what is being noted here: the exchange of services, relatively free trade, paying for labor, etc.

Capitalism is generally attacked as the ability to use wealth to create wealth, the supposed exploitation of labor, while in fact the accumulation of capital allows for the creation of labor and wealth. The attack is a conflict between the value of labor and wealth in society.

Agree. Gov't also interferes by providing subsidies. Our government is completely out of control, picking winners and losers and manipulating the market. Someone posted in a thread earlier a good article from Ron Paul. He explained it best: Corporatism.

Agreed. I saw that, and that was right to the point. There's a big difference in my opinion in corporatism and capitalism operating in a truly free market, creating monopolies, unfair advantages, and squeezing the free market right out of the equation. If you want to level the playing field, then start with government's interference and greed, kick the lobbyists to the street and clean up Washington, as that's where the heart of the problem is at.

capitalism is based in an obsession to serve people, so i don't see how this can be true

This is what liberals simply refuse to see or are just blind to. I think they understand it but they just wish to ignore it because they don't want to believe that those with more talent or work ethic are WORTH more than those with less of those qualities. Those people also contribute more to society as a whole, benefiting everyone.

So you have an economic thought process on the left that does not care that there is less wealth and a poorer standard of living across the board - the only thing that matters is that what people have is as close to equal as they can get it, and a central authority that controls that equality.

How do they believe the wealth that they wish to redistribute will maintain itself under that philosophy? It simply can't. And everybody suffers as a result.

this is part of it. egalitarianism is still a big part of the philosophy and many of them truly do believe that "we're all equal, in some way" (unless you disagree with them, obv).

well when you think that everyone is theoretically equal, you can replace the captains of industry with joe schmoe and things will keep on rolling
