SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (AP) — A Chinese restaurant open in Santa Cruz for almost four decades has closed its doors after a boycott and online backlash against the owner's 2016 campaign donation to former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke.

The Santa Cruz Sentinel reports that O'mei Szechuan Chinese Restaurant closed, perhaps permanently, after a news site revealed that owner Roger Grigsby donated $500 to Duke's unsuccessful 2016 U.S. Senate campaign in Louisiana.

Sounds like a waste of energy

But supporting David Duke is a fairly reasonable thing to boycott a restaurant for, IMO. Sucks for employees.

yeah, an ex wife or employee saying my boss at chi pa town isn't exactly newsworthy.

you'd think they'd just say "oh, ok. is there a story here? discrimination, etc."..."oh, there isn't...ok, bye"

it may also not be a news site. usually they give credit the reporter or outlet in a more specific manner...and by that i mean they name them
