We all know this is an area he wanted to fix... and looks like he maybe on board with a by partisan bill

quote:

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) tweeted at President Trump Sunday evening, trying to get his attention and support on a bipartisan bill on a certain kind of visa. Grassley tweeted after a CBS News “60 Minutes” report on the H1B visa program that allows foreign workers with “specialty occupations” to work in the United States. The “60 Minutes” report focused on American workers who’ve had to train their replacements before losing their jobs.

quote:

Grassley seized on the broadcast news program’s report to tout a bill he’s sponsoring with Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) that he says would “correct this injustice.”

quote:

In subsequent tweets, Grassley thanks the president for “getting on board”

quote:

@POTUS In other words I've been waiting for six yrs for a president interested in fixing H1B and that person has finally arrived/DRAIN SWAMP

Properly fixing the H1B loophole has bipartisan support. Actually the one of the best solutions I've seen for it was proposed by a Democrat out of San Jose.

The key is going away from a lottery to a more merit based system. Take the best and the brightest, not the luckiest who are often pushed by the massive consulting firms.

Realize though that the H-1B program isn't what really costs American jobs. Outsourcing can be done almost as easily from outside the US as it can from inside for the large consulting firms, especially with technology making videoconferencing cheaper and higher quality than ever before.

This is definitely an area where I think both Trump supporters and a lot of Democrats can find common ground. There is abuse going on here. This particular visa program was never supposed to be used the way it is used today.

Would be an easy win for Trump. I wonder if he has any interest in doing it.

My contribution is that a baseline education and understanding of the subject matter is required for any discussion. Jjdoc has an IQ of about 90 and may actually be a small child. I find it funny that people actually respond to him like a real person on here. Says a lot.
