I have tried to give Obama the benefit of the doubt on that particular statement by making the assumption that he meant that many, if not most, successful small businesses have benefited from low interest small business loans, or from knowledge acquired from others about their trade, etc.
However, when you listen to the entire line in context with the rest of the speech, it seems like he is saying exactly what it sounds like he is saying.
With that being said, does he actually believe that statement?
I am of the mindset that he either doesn't believe it or doesn't care one way or the other. He is running for re-election and realizes that there are a lot more employees out there than employers, and there are a lot more poor than wealthy. Furthermore, he realizes their vote counts just as much as the business owner.
When you distill it down to its purest form, even the most staunch Obama support must admit that this is simply political class warfare. Moreover, it is a far cry from the message that he ran on in 2008 of being a uniter and not a divider. It is arguable there has never been a more divisive leader with such a large platform for division in American history.
I am continually dumbfounded by what comes from his mouth. I won't be fooled again.
