Broke California approves Billions for high speed rail from LA to SF

LINK

Idiots.

quote:

California lawmakers approved billions of dollars Friday in construction financing for the initial segment of the nation's first dedicated high-speed rail line connecting Los Angeles and San Francisco.

quote:

The move marked a major political victory for Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown and the Obama administration. Both have promoted bullet trains as job generators and clean transportation alternatives.

They are either retarded or purposely trying to ruin this country.

quote:

The first segment of the line will run from Madera to Bakersfield. The final cost of the completed project from Los Angeles to San Francisco would be $68 billion.

ask Barry Bonds 25 how he feels about not having to drive 7 hours to get down there for a court date?

I bet a lot of people will use it to do business.

I'm guessing California thinks itself "Too big to fail". So, why bother with fiscal sanity? Keep on keepin' on, and if you flop, "hold America hostage".

but how will they pay for it?

safe, efficient high speed rail travel would be AWESOME....but it will cost the state a ton

and that state is WAY in the red

Outside of the highly populated Northeast Corridor there isn't enough demand for inter-city rail service (otherwise railroads wouldn't have dropped it in the 1960's).

Amtrak is a boondoggle and it's not even close.

The only thing this does is convince more Californians that can leave, to do so.

There's like 57 flights a day between the two cities daily.

I saw the Brooke ? on CNN special on this Cal.Amtrack and it is full of corruption and Chicago style payback. It's too expensive and we can't afford it, however, it is a favorite project of the Environmentalists,Teamsters union, and the Obama and Sen. Reid Unions in Las Vegas, that ran his campaign last year and won. They want the rail to run south in Cal. then turn to Las Vegas and bring the California tourist money to Vegas, mostly for the Unionized casinos. A source of money for Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Obama.
