quote:

Photographs of him being treated by paramedics emerged yesterday and showed a man of Asian appearance who sported a beard.

quote:

Detectives had delayed disclosing his name to the public for "operational reasons".

So when you guys think a man of asian appearance, do you think khalid masood or Jet Li? Im just curious?

it is but thats not the point, I've never heard a muslim man referenced to as asian even though many muslims are in indonesia and the pacific rim. Why would the media try so hard to not say middle eastern?

Yes. And it would be equally relevant if they described him by his favorite TV show.

"Fan of Luther, the TV miniseries."

as we discussed yesterday, the Brits kind of use "Chinese" to mean "oriental"

"Asian" = Indian/Pakistani primarily (b/c they're the former colonies)

Honestly this doesnt even make me mad anymore.

shite like this is why Trump won. Everyone knows the truth, even if they dont want to fully admit it. People have grown wise to the media, and they have lost a shite ton of credibility with Americans ever since Trump entered the election.

Asian = muslim is fricking retarded but even moreso when the guy is blacker than Charlie murphy and is the only skin color not found on the biggest and most populated continent on the planet

Asian in appearance...the only conclusion I can draw from that is that he's not black, which makes the fact that he's black hysterical.

it reminds me of the family guy empire strikes back episode.

i used a similar term once to describe an Indian as asian (this is in the US not UK, obviously) and they took offense to the "asian" label

What we think of as Asian, east Asian, isn't what Brits think of as Asian, south Asian. This has been discussed already.

In England, that typically means India or Pakistan. The attacker was Pakistani. That's just a linguistic difference between the U.S. and Britain. Here, Asian connotates East Asia (China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, etc). There, it's the Subcontinent.

That's the common usage in the UK. Indians, Pakistanis, and Middle Easterners are referred to as Asian. Chinese, etc. are called East Asian.
