As much as I'd like to see that political hack bitch get thrown in jail for contempt of congress, sadly this will all come to nothing. She will become a hero for the Rexes of the world and will probably get a gig on MSNBC.

This was obviously coming when they scheduled a vote... The committee leans Republican, so of course they are going to vote yes.

Krauthamer said the right thing yesterday, they should call her back in, grant her immunity to anything she says and go at it.

I know you aren't interested in the truth coming out...but who will this be appealed to?

Now, let the fun begin. There is nothing they can do other than hold her in contempt of Congress.

I can't believe they are even wasting our time with this vote.

That is VERY serious from her point of view. No job. No pension. And a long enough jail time that the left will forget about her.

I can't believe the left doesn't want the truth to come out.

lulwut

Dems introduced into the record some docs explaining their position. I'm not sure the Republicans introduced the legal opinion they obtained from House counsel...they wouldn't even let most of the Dems see it before the hearing today.

If they cite her with contempt it should go to court

My legal analysis is that the House committee has no legal authority to decide whether or not Ms. Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights, and my opinion is that she clearly did not.

First off, I'm not on the left in any sense of the word.

I'm on the side of its absolutely ridiculous that a House panel, who need no legal training, can vote that someone waived their 5th Amendment right.

I cant believe that you even think that's right.

Eh, the only thing funny about that is him believing she clearly didn't waive her rights. It's a coin-flip legal call upon which reasonable jurists could disagree.

They have the authority to vote on whatever they want. Whether they should be is a different question.

Well, if she claimed that she did nothing wrong, she has no grounds to declare the 5th, correct?
