Actually the rally in Berkeley was intended to be a peaceful Patriots Day rally, scheduled by pro-Trump supporters. Counter-demonstrators/freaks then said they would hold a rally at the same time/place. A citizen militia group (Oath Keepers) came from Montana--along w groups from elsewhere--to protect Trump supporters. Bikers had vowed to fight anti-Trump protesters, should they cross police barricades. Not surprisingly, the leftists turned violent, and fur started flying.
In a nutshell, people have had enough.
The "patriots" were waving flags, supporting freedom; the thugs didn't care for it.

Actually I am surprised the leftists turned violent if there were actually Trump supporters there willing to fight
