The ABC board is such a joke. If you're a restaurant, you can't buy your liquor from any place but the ABC. I believe it's the same with regular package stores as well. First the state taxes the shite out of it coming into the state and then they become the sole distributor.

This is a wine based product. It is not considered a liquor.

I was in my local abc last week and they tried to give me a sob story about a bill that was introduced to privatize liquor in the state. I told the guy I hope it passes. He got all upset and told me I better get used to paying package store prices. I laughed and shook my head on my way out of the store.

I sure fricking hope so. The first time I visited a duty and sin-tax free place, I was absolutely flabbergasted. Why the frick am I paying $12 a pint for shite liquor?

Sadly, he's probably right. They're not going to complete do away with the ABC, just their retail stores. So the ABC will still distribute it to restaurants, bars, and package stores, most likely at the current price levels.

That sounds like the Hollywood ABC store. Guy there gave me the same story. Got flustered when I asked him to explain that to me. Costco has been my store of choice since.

These same idiots will go on TV and complain about socialism and communism, all while supporting and expanding the continued state monopoly over a legal good.

Aside from hating the University of Alabama, Nick Saban and Gus Malzahn.....there is a truly legit reason to hate the state of Alabama....ABC and their monopoly of the liquor outlets

Why do you guys allow that???? Is this some sort of nod to preacher men who rail against the evils of liquor while they themselves and their wives get crippled on the stuff in private?

They get two cracks at it right? The built in taxes and then the sales tax at the point of purchase....or am I wrong on the sales tax end?

ABC is a state run cartel. They make bars and restauraunts drive to the nearest ABC store (which may be out of town) pick from a very limited selection. And now they come up with another sob story to raise prices. All while Nero Bently plays with his girlfriend's funbags.

This is what 50th place in quality of life looks like and we deserve every bit of it for letting it happen.

I don't drink beer but that is truth in advertising right there. BTW an ABC brownshirt came by a local buisness a few weeks back and made all the staff tear down the tin beer signs on the side of the building.they had been there for years. The ABC is drunk on its own power.

Probably like the state hiring 3rd party companies to do tax audits on businesses.

This was not an underage kid hitting all the places but an actual ABC officer.

Signs were so old they were faded.

We usually pack in our booze when we hit the beaches in AL. The beer prices are ok and are probably lower in alcohol?

Hell I cross the bridge to the FL Publix when I'm down there. Usually grab a full sized cart to shop too. Lady in the liquor store looks at me like I'm crazy till I tell her I'm from AL. Then she laughs.

My cousin has a distillery in Colorado and he can't even send me a bottle of whiskey because it isn't approved by tABC.
