Sickening if this is all they've got in the suit . . . makes me more and more convinced that certain people SHOULD NOT be allowed nice things.

Eleven Fox News employees, including a former host of Fox and Friends, filed suit against the network on Tuesday, alleging that they have faced ‘hostile racial discrimination’ from Bill O’Reilly, Roger Ailes and other top executives for years. The employees claim the news outlet was ‘more akin to Plantation-style management than a modern-day work environment,’ where minority workers were taunted with racial stereotypes, demeaned by management, and forced to take chaperones when visiting the executive floor. The joint action lawsuit was first filed in March, but Tuesday’s complaint includes new allegations against O’Reilly and Ailes, who were both recently dropped by the network amid sexual harassment accusations. It also includes previous allegations against former vice president Judith Slater, who was fired in March. Former Fox and Friends co-host Kelly Wright, a veteran reporter at the network was one of the employees to join the class action discrimination lawsuit on Tuesday, bringing the total number of plaintiffs to 11. Another former employee, Adasa Blanco, also filed a related lawsuit in U.S. District Court in New York on Tuesday.
quote:
Wright, who is black, claimed he ‘has been marginalized, as Fox News provided his White colleagues with opportunities for advancement for which he considered,’ citing his abrupt removal as a Fox and Friends co-host in 2008 and replacement by a white colleague. Wright claimed Bill O’Reilly refused to run a segment with him featuring black community stories because it portrayed African Americans in ‘too positive’ a light. The lawsuit also took issue with O’Reilly’s statements about race on the air, including jokes about Rep. Maxine Waters wearing a ‘James Brown wig’ and comments on violence and youth pregnancies in the black community. According to the lawsuit, O’Reilly also told Wright he should should call up Ailes and ‘offer to sing the National Anthem at Fox News Town Halls’ – a proposal that Wright believed was due to his race. ‘Rather than viewing Mr. Wright as the two-time Emmy Award recipient he is, O’Reilly saw Mr. Wright as an entertainer and utility player,’ claimed the lawsuit.

Wtf is wrong with these people?

Oh lawdy, the left plays so dirty. When will the right understand?

I hope this goes to court. I really do. This just screams of trying to capitalize on race and/or gender in today's SJW society. I hope they end up paying Fox for this bullshite lawsuit.

Fox is sexist and racist now? What's next, is Shep gonna sue them for being homophobic?

Then how come we don't hear it about it at other news networks, which also primarily have white male hosts?

Don't like job.
Find new job.
These money grabbing talentless people are pathetic.

One way or another, it seems like Fox's days are numbered. Those two Murdoch sons don't have any interest in maintaining FOX as the sole "conservative option" of cable news networks.
To be honest, I think the stage is set for a new network to emerge, anyway. To liberals, FOX probably looked like one homogeneous bastion of conservatism. But the truth is, FOX is way too "Establishment GOP" for my taste. They've always had too many people like Karl Rove, Britt Hume, George Will, etc. In other words, the very epitome of Never-Trumpers.
Go ahead & blow it up. Hopefully, a truly independent and non-establishment conservative network will take its place.

I'm sure Ricky Maddow will have suits filed against him.

Because the establishment isn't after them.
Or do you think CNN has never given a white person a promotion that a black person was in the running for?
"Provided White colleagues with opportunities for advancement for which he was considered."

Fox was always a wolf in sheep's clothing (or more often a tight sweater and a short skirt) for conservatism. They parroted the RNC's talking points like the other networks parroted the DNC's talking points. That's all they were, a microphone for party leaders.

quote:Me too. I hope it is obvious BS. I hope FNC and the two Murdoch twerps lose their asses in the process anyway. You do not give into extortion. The Murdoch twerps did. As long as they remain, and their attitude/capacity remains, FNC will spiral down. Their current nighttime line up is the weakest in the network's history. There is not a close second.
I hope this goes to court. I really do.

Who is "the establishment" you're talking about? GOP? MSM?

Definitely way too much of that.
That's why it always amuses me when some liberal here says "You're just repeating what you hear on FOX News." Umm....no. From Chris Wallace, to Shep Smith, to Karl Rove, to Dana Perino, etc., there are a ton of on-air personalities & journalists at FOX for whom I feel nothing but a general disdain.

The swamp. MSM and some GOP included
They have been running the country and controlling the narrative and are doing everything in their power to marginalize their opposition.

According to the unofficial EEOC doctrine, a white female ranks higher than a black male when it comes to "points" hiring.
What's his beef you reckon? As a reporter accused of doing his research, he overlooked this one.
