Define this? Not even trying to pick a fight. Just wondering because I have never heard this phrase uttered recently
No problem. All background checks discriminate in one way or another. The purpose is to gather information about your past to determine if you are worth the risk in question. So for instance, if you are a convicted felon then you are limited as to which firearms you may purchase. Felons are being discriminated against.
This seems great when you only mention the positive side. How easy would it be to then change the discriminatory criteria and prevent someone with a history of alcoholism, or too many traffic accidents, or a member of an unpopular political party from purchasing a gun? Maybe even a person with a history of certain web searches. If this seems far fetched then look at the current push by all sides for more restrictions on mentally ill patients. How will this be enforced? National database, mandatory psych screening? Those are all intrusions I do not support.
This coupled with the fact that mandatory background check is a presumption of guilt requiring proof of innocence. Which I also disagree with.
