She said that she wants to propose a bill that requires every gun owner to lock up their guns or suffer criminal penalties. If it saves one child's life it is worth it, etc...
I'm not her constituent, so I'm not sure why she was on BR radio, but I wrote her anyway:
Dear Rep. Norton:
I listened to you on WJBO this morning and I must say that I am appalled at the bill you are attempting to propose. I have zero confidence that it will pass, however, I wanted to register my condolences for your constituents. I am sorry they have someone as dense as you to represent them. This bill you propose to require every gun owner in the state to lock up their guns is ridiculous.
You further went on to say that if a person’s house is robbed and the police find that stolen guns were not locked up, then there would be criminal penalties for failure to lock up the firearm. Let me get this straight—you want to penalize a robbery victim twice? Maybe you did not notice, but the voters of this state recently approved a constitutional amendment that requires the Supreme Court to apply strict scrutiny to any law limiting gun ownership. If this bill were to pass (which it will not), it will be overturned in the courts. You will have wasted much taxpayer time and money, not that you care.
I hope to God you get voted out of office tomorrow. Thanks,
