Barbara Norton--Shreveport Rep on WJBO this am

Image: http://house.louisiana.gov/h_reps/RepPics09/rep3.jpg
She said that she wants to propose a bill that requires every gun owner to lock up their guns or suffer criminal penalties. If it saves one child's life it is worth it, etc...

I'm not her constituent, so I'm not sure why she was on BR radio, but I wrote her anyway:

quote:

Dear Rep. Norton:

I listened to you on WJBO this morning and I must say that I am appalled at the bill you are attempting to propose. I have zero confidence that it will pass, however, I wanted to register my condolences for your constituents. I am sorry they have someone as dense as you to represent them. This bill you propose to require every gun owner in the state to lock up their guns is ridiculous.

You further went on to say that if a person’s house is robbed and the police find that stolen guns were not locked up, then there would be criminal penalties for failure to lock up the firearm. Let me get this straight—you want to penalize a robbery victim twice? Maybe you did not notice, but the voters of this state recently approved a constitutional amendment that requires the Supreme Court to apply strict scrutiny to any law limiting gun ownership. If this bill were to pass (which it will not), it will be overturned in the courts. You will have wasted much taxpayer time and money, not that you care.

I hope to God you get voted out of office tomorrow. Thanks,

This topic popped up here the other night. Barbara Norton probably has an IQ under 80 and won't be able to read half of the letter you wrote to her. She is a huge joke, yet unfortunately she gets a voice and her inner city urban radical agenda gets tossed around for the media from time to time. Google some of her previous speaking snippets from the house and you will question how someone this unintelligent is serving in the LA house.

The lady doesn't understand the meaning of the word shall, so I'm pretty sure your email went right over her head. She's a simpleton who is probably considered a genius within her district.

Before reacting emotionally, let me ask:

Is her meaning that when the homeowner is AWAY, his firearm shall be locked up?

I can see that as somewhat reasonable. When you are home, you get the gun out of the "safe" and can carry it strapped to you at all times (if you so choose). However, when you LEAVE, then lock it away.

Again, I am not "supporting" or "against" this bill. I just wonder if that is her contention.

Does her bill say is "shall" be locked up, because if so, dat don't mean you "got to".

I'm sure that Ms Norton is a god fearing woman, it would have been classic had the man brought out the Ten Commandments on her. So I guess I don't gots to not steal or kill..

First of all, she doesn't understand the meaning of the word "contention", second, she is unable of critical thinking, I doubt she was able to think beyond, "You peoples needs to be locking yo guns."

You are giving her too much credit. I've always wondered if really dull people like her in elected positions realize how unintelligent they are or not? I assume that she possesses such a low IQ she doesn't realize that everyone laughs at her.

If this happens, 80% of her district will be incarcerated in short order.

Also, not to be racist, but this lady looks like a chimpanzee brought straight out of the Congo and placed in a pantsuit with makeup.

I assume you have never met Barbara Norton. I have. I can assure you that she is incapable of reading that many words.
