Steve Bannon is not a lawyer, but the chief White House strategist is poised to become the senior partner in a heavyweight firm of bareknuckle barristers at the center of President Trump's counter-offensive against Russia collusion claims.

quote:

Bannon, the former Breitbart executive whose no-holds-barred approach served Trump well in the homestretch of his presidential campaign, headed home from Trump's foreign trip and is reportedly the quarterback of an emerging war room of high-powered lawyers, surrogates and researchers.

Their mission: Respond, rebut and refute bad press and legal issues emanating from the special counsel probe led by former FBI Director Robert Mueller into Russian influence on the 2016 election.

quote:

Steve is super savvy dealing with the media and dealing with crises," Newsmax CEO Christopher Ruddy told Axios.

While Bannon is poised to oversee the entire operation, the legal team being assembled is an eclectic roster of seasoned streetfighters and well-known litigators.

“A big legal team, even one with people with titanic reputations, can greatly benefit the person represented by that big team,” said former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy. “The Justice Department can throw endless resources at cases, so it makes a difference to be capable of matching them.”

I like this move. Fight this bullshite head on.

The only way that the liberalism disease is eradicated is actually taking the fight to them.

Sounds like a winning strategy. A bunch of lawyers taking orders from Steve Bannon. What could possibly go wrong?

As usual, Trump went in with good faith re the Dems. Should have known better; but at least he tried.

Not it's time to take the gloves off and fight fire with fire. From Barack Obama to Hillary Clinton to Harry Reid (shady land deals) and all the Dems who are guilty of corruption/criminality far WORSE than Trump is even accused of...they'd better lawyer up. The best defense is a good offense; and like our Tigers will know...even the better Defense can be worn down if they stay on the field. The heat is coming. Bout time!

A big team of top attorneys (not Trump surrogate attorneys) is probably a good idea.

Letting Bannon lead it is probably a terrible idea.

A president creating a special team to fight the Media and an ongoing FBI investigation?

Nothing to see here...

It's almost as if he doesn't give a single solitary frick about optics. Yet he wonders why everyone is "attacking" him.

So he should just sit back and trust that everything is on the up and up when 90% of DC hates him and his message.

Tell you what sport, if you are ever charged with serious allegations don't you dare hire a lawyer.

Good. If Bannon is busy with this he won't have time to push his radical agenda.

Reports: Trump to Set Up War Room Staffed With 'Street Fighters'

President Donald Trump is reported to be gearing up for long battles over the Russia investigations and sabotaging leaks from the Deep State by assembling a war room staffed with ‘street fighters’ to fight those battles while Trump and his regular White House staff can focus on implementing Trump’s agenda.

Mike Allen, reporting at Axios, broke the stories about the war room and ‘street fighters’ in respective stories published Tuesday and Thursday.

Day 124 … White House officials tell me they’re gearing up for months, and likely years, of Russia defense. Trump and his inner circle are belatedly scrambling to install war-room-like mechanisms designed to prevent the drama and threat from consuming the entire West Wing, and derailing everything else.

Trump aides have studied precedents, including the Reagan White House’s handling of Iran-Contra and President Clinton’s scandal machinery.

The West Wing appears to be absorbing key lessons from its predecessors, although even Trump allies tell me he’s just beginning to take steps to wall off the controversy that should be begun on Day 1…”

AND

“West Wing officials are prepping for a years-long war with investigators and the bureaucracy, with plans to beef up legal, surrogate, communications and rapid-response teams as part of a “new normal” for President Trump — besieged.

“The White House is embracing the fight, which is going to last as long as Donald Trump is president,” said a Trump ally familiar with the preparations. “We’re getting street fighters ready to go.”

A West Wing official said Trump has been frustrated by the ferocity of the incoming, and has demanded a more visible response.

Trump aides recognize that besides being in the crosshairs of investigators on Russia, they will be the continuing target of leaks from the bureaucracy. The Trump ally referred to this second enemy as “nameless, faceless, deep-state types” who have been inflamed and are punching back through the media…”

As was reported on Monday by OANN and picked up by TGP, upon his return from a nine-day trip to the Middle East and Europe, Trump plans to fire ‘multiple people’ identified as leakers of classified information.

Fox News’ Ed Henry confirmed the Axios reports Thursday night.

Bannon is a radical, IMO, but I don't know what his radical agenda would be.

I think he's got a grudge against the nation's institutions and he's willing to use whatever ideology may be helpful in carrying it out.

lol bannon is NOT leading the legal team. They may let him think he's important but he won't be making any real legal decisions.
