Former White House adviser Steve Bannon widened his assault on the Republican establishment Friday night, saying former GOP President George W. Bush had the most “destructive” presidency in U.S. history.

Bannon's scathing comments at the annual California Republican Party convention came about a week after Bush denounced bigotry in Trump-era American politics and warned that the rise of isolationism and "nativism," which Bannon espouses, have clouded the nation's true identity.

"There has not been a more destructive presidency than George Bush's," Bannon said.

He also said Bush has no idea whether "he is coming or going, just like it was when he was president,” amid boos in the crowd at the mention of Bush's name.

ETA: Bannon is obviously being a little hyperbolic here on purpose however I really don’t mind the hyperbole if it rustles the NeverTrumpers jimmies and fires up the base a little.

With foreign policy it's hard to get much worse than Bush.

Domestically, Obama had by far the most destructive presidency.

Started a couple wars, tanked the market, and directly caused BHO. Can't say I disagree

The IC completely failed us on the Iraq war. What a shite show.

At the time I even believed them.

W also derided conspiracy theorists in his comments (I guess like those who were critical of him taking us to Iraq with “evidence” provided by the Deep State...)

Started two wars that cost up about 4 trillions and 7+ thousand lives, turned Mideast up side down, create Isis, strengthened Iran and North Korea.
Worst president in the history of the republic

I think GWB/Obama was easily the most destructive 16 years for the body politic and public fisc.

They IC didn't fail anything. The neocon hawks in Bush's cabinet faked the intelligence because they wanted to start a war to benefit Israel. They had written about it years before 911 even happened.

As a lifelong Conservative I can readily admit the following:
Bill Clinton - morally destructive
Lil Georgie Bush - global foreign policy destructive
Barock Hussein Obama - economically destructive

Impossible to deny and Clinton started the shat show we find ourselves in now as everyone since him has had the overcompensate to try to right ship as they felt necessary

It's not the most but it was still pretty damn destructive and Woodrow Wilson is still the worst President ever followed by FDR and then LBJ.

Bush 43 apologists will never ever successfully defend No child left behind, medicated expansion, a bullshite war in iraq that we had no business fighting that destabilized the mideast and cost us trillions of dollars and the thousands of lives our our service members, expansion of the police state through the patriot act and spending like a drunken sailor at a titty bar.

Safe to say the previous three presidents are probably top 3 mistakes this country has ever made.

While he peddled the most harmful and dangerous conspiracy theory in our lifetimes that led us to one of the biggest, if not the biggest foreign policy blunder in American history.

And he has the nerve to lecture us on conspiracy theories and disinformation?

He can get fricked.

Afghanistan had to happen after 9/11.

But everything we seeing today occurred post WWI. Carter not backing the Shah in Iran is the mechanism to the modern instability of the middle east today.

You can argue that Bush was manipulated to take out Saddam if you want to give credence to the Deep State conspiracy but if not Bush it would have been the next administration and if not the US it would have been Russia/ Iran.

And to Bush's credit he was overcoming the early mistakes of the Iraq conflict and when he left office Iraq was quite manageable. Then Obama de-stablized it all when he announced the date the US was effectively pulling out of the region.
