"Amazing battle for dominance is playing out between the elected US govt & the IC who consider themselves to be the 'permanent government'."

Exactly, here is really good article about same:

quote:

On the fields of this new hybrid war, few want to accept that Russia is already winning. The Kremlin’s campaign of disruption has succeeded in deepening divides in our society, tarnishing a considerable cross-section of our leadership, eroding faith in our institutions and propelling Russia to the center of our political life. It has helped turn us against each other and our allies, and made us distrust the very tools and institutions that can give us clarity on the threats we face. Russia has won a series of small but cascading victories against us, the cumulative effect of which is absolutely crushing.

quote:

The Kremlin’s power is primarily in the shadows—in the difficulty of identifying and exposing the tactics it uses, and the money it uses to fund them; in the creeping narratives it propagates to erode our values and our certainty; in the loose network of advocates and causes it has captured into its campaigns to act indirectly and from a hundred different directions.

You could take the Kremlin out of this passage and put the left and MSM and it wouldn't miss a beat. It's pure projection of their own doings.

These people will literally go as far as this to push the fault of losing the election onto something else. This is scary.

Nobody believes anything in media anymore. Anything.

That is partly for good reason. I'm not saying that Russia and whoever else has an interest in US distrust in itself had to fabricate this stuff, they just showed it to us, probably selectively, and let us draw the conclusions they wanted us to draw.

And surprise surprise, now you have the party in power going "what? Russia? Russia's cool, liberals are obsessed with Russia! who wants to go to war with Russia - not us! Putin is a great leader!"

I don't think Russia is enjoying being the fall guy during a major struggle for power in the US Government.

Consuming media and sussing out what's factual, what's likely fictional, what's plausible and implausible, and what's probably mostly true but reported from an angle isn't this monumental thing that Americans pretend it is. Assuming you have a baseline of knowledge in a few subjects and the ability draw logical deductions it's just not fricking rocket science.

What did they expect? They put themselves in the conversation, not the other way around. Accordingly, while I think it's totally possible this gets out of hand in a way they don't like, I assume they factored it in.

When Romney ran, the Democrats were downplaying Russia, and Democrats were in power. Now Republicans are minimizing Russia's actions, and Republicans (in theory) are in power. Seems like they've done reasonably well here

It's increasingly hard in political matters, though, where so much is premised on unsourced material. Could Politico be inventing sources inside the WH? I don't think so, but it's possible. Could Breitbart be coordinating with Bannon to spread falsehoods to help his struggle for influence? I certainly think so.

I mean, I can make those guesses, so I understand what you're (I'm) saying, but it's still hard even for cautious and educated folks to draw firm conclusions.

Limbaugh plays soundbite compilations of about 16 analysts from mostly left leaning organizations saying quote for quote the exact same thing almost daily.

The collaboration and collusion in the MSM is pretty deep and you have to know which sources to cherry pick from.

I'm not minimizing Russia's capabilities. What I'm concerned about is what looks like a desperate Democratic Party, who consists of it's army in the media, and their ever changing narratives.

Trump said the election was rigged, they said there's no way possible and it's proposterous claim. Our election process is 100% sincere and just the democrats told us, until they lost.
Now, Russia hacked our election is what we're told.

Trump says voter fraud with illegals and other outlets took place in this election, the MSM said voter fraud is impossible. Don't forget about the Russian hacks though. Then when we want to investigate voter fraud to accumulate the evidence they claim we lack, they quickly turn against it.

FIFY.

I agree with you about the media. But, I also think it is true about Trump. Everyone is lying all the time and no one cares. All we care about is power and winning for our side. Truth is completely dead.

If we had a president who wasn't totally compromised, be might be able to fight the lying media. But, we don't. So, it goes both ways.
