As a conservative, I'm glad the healthcare bill failed.

In the first place, why the frick didn't the GOPe have a better plan in place to replace Obamacare? They had 8 fricking years to come up with one, although they knew Obama would veto it.

Secondly, why the big rush? Why did it have to be passed so quickly? We have the majority in the House and Senate. I'd rather them deliberate and get it right instead of rushing it through lIke Obamacare was behind closed doors in the middle of the night.

Basically, I'm glad this failed if it was just meant to be a bandaid for the atrocity known as Obamacare.

Every conservative should be glad. It's puzzling to see any that are disappointed.

Who do you consider to be "we"?

I sure as hell don't consider the likes of Paul Ryan and McConnell to be on my side, so I don't think "we" have a majority at all

It wasn't

At the same time, anyone who thinks that Paul Ryan or Mitch McConnell would bring a conservative healthcare bill to the floor for a vote is a retard

Your answer lies in your question.

why the big rush?

Because Paul Ryan has been working on this for 20 years.

He had to try and shove his pet project through before someone else got any traction with something better *cough* Rand *cough*

behind closed doors in the middle of the night.

Again, refer to your first question.

Very good that it did.

It's not disappointment so much as frustration at the GOPe. SoB's are only out for themselves.

Because the reality is that healthcare is very expensive and there is no plan that would make everyone happy without it costing a fortune.

There is basically no solution if the expectation is affordable healthcare for all. That is the hard reality.

The harder reality is that people won't accept this. What should have been done was a simple repeal; just get it back to what it was. Then let the private sector lead the way.

I would agree with that. A "conservative healthcare bill" is an oxymoron.

why ?

Because leadership went the Reconciliation route.

(ie: couldn't adequately modify)

Why did Trump whip it as hard as he could if it was so bad? Can the God Emperor read?

If I were interested in moving forward with Healthcare then I would have a committees broken down on Healthcare for 6 months. Have a retreat and figure out what you want and how to proceed. You may have to pass the bill in small piece by small piece to get it through but it just goes to show you how bad they didn't want to touch this subject.

I agree. It pisses me off when they claim to be conservative. They are not even close.

Did you miss the threads accusing conservatives that didn't support that trash bill of owning the ACA now?

Maybe it was all a show?

Fail fast and move on because nobody wants to get bogged down on this issue. Healthcare can suck the life out of an administration.

I know this seems like wishful thinking, but it may actually work out for the best that things get cleared out of the way before the tax reform, welfare reform, and likely education issues.
