The most significant endorsement was USA Today. Since their creation decades ago they had a strict policy of not endorsing a presidential candidate.
Their reporting during campaigns was always biased toward the Dem but they never ran an official "We hereby endorse Al Gore for President" column.
They broke their rule by endorsing Hillary and explained it along the lines of Trump being the worst candidate in the history of elections and that survival of the world depended on defeating him. So, they had a special mission that forced them to break their vow in order to save humanity.
