People that just want to work, raise a family, have vacations at the beach and look forward to a retirement spent fishing?

No, the media likes sensationalism, therefore show all the clowns, blue and red, out there doing dumb shite. Don't buy in to the hype. Just live your life and go vote, and educate your kids that they're growing up in a very distorted culture.

I have similar desires, and I live my life accordingly. I do not often discuss politics in my daily interactions with others, but when I do, it is civil discourse(except for the occasional poliboard comment for fun). I do not get outraged or overjoyed by political occurrences and have long ago accepted that expecting our government to return to constitutional principles is a fantasy.
I suppose those with this mindset could be called dispassionate. I call it being happy.

Quite spending so much time on social media and watching the news. Both of those platforms' goals is to sensationalize and profit off of everything.

No. Normal Americans are quiet and doing their own thing. They don't whine, protest or scream about the president being illegitimate because of birth or foreign interference. They carry on their daily chores trying to make a living while supplying the funds our corrupt and inept government uses to fight wars and support socially incompetent people.
